The shower block needs updating. But they are in the process of improving the site. It will be really good when it's all done.

Spotlessly clean campsite. Beautiful views. Plenty of space on tent field. Little slide for children. Quiet site even though it was busy.

    Disliked:

Toilet/shower block a little tatty although clean. Only one shower available in the woman's toilet and no hairdryers. The block was situated within the caravan part of the site, away from the tent field. The toilet location is ok for adults but it was a distance for our little ones. This is the only reason I have not given it 5 stars.

Maybe just bad timing given the work and the weather, clean / basic. 06/08/2017

Very friendly welcome to start things off. The site manager apologised saying that because of prolonged periods of rain the pitches were very soft and water logged in places. (TIP: Take Wellington boots)

We called up prior to camping to advise that we were bringing an additional awning and were told this would be at no extra charge which was excellent.

The site is pretty basic and had we not been slushing around in the mud for the first couple of days we would have enjoyed a fairly relaxing chilled out break.

The kids made friends with a couple of families and played away great. There is a sizable patch of long grass they played in, however, the tents pitch area is tight with little room to run around.

    Disliked:

    I did struggle with a few things on-site: -

    1. Toilet block has 1 male and 1 female shower area and badly needs to be renovated. (I understand this is due to be started)

    2. Any amount of rain turns the grass into a quagmire. Cars being towed off the grass and large pools of water forming. I appreciate you can't control the weather and the site manager was very apologetic.

    3. Probably just timing but it was like camping at Crufts. Several dogs running everywhere and quite excitable, even at 2 am,

    4. Improvements are being made to the site however it would have been nice to have been informed prior to booking. Small excavators and mini diggers just 200yrds away from tent pitches disrupted the tranquillity and made me paranoid about the kids coming and going to the toilet block.

    5. The caravan site is immaculate and obviously very well maintained but the tent pitch experience left me disappointed.

Toilet block- dirty. Shower- only one... dirty!!
Diggers, mud.. construction site right out side the tent. Not told about the work!! No refund offered. Complete let down. Wait all year for a holiday.. only to come home early just to great some peace and quiet

From the manager...

on your arrival a long with the site information there was a brief note informing you of the site improvements being undertaken. We have no control over the weather I.E the rain hence the grass going muddy with vehicles coming & going off the field.

we did offer you a free weeks stay once the work was completed.

The owner and the warden were very helpful and apologetic in relation to the construction work being carried out and tried to make the site accessible as the week went on.

    Disliked:

No facilities as such, the reception was only open occasionally and no shop within walking distance to get emergency or essential supplies. The toilet facilities were clean but inadequate for the site and the waste and dirty water disposal was approximately 250/300 meters away in the furthest corner of the site.
On arrival there was no places available with electric hook-up as booked in January 2017 for the trailer tent and 2 tents, there was one pitch for the caravan however it was as if we were all unexpected. The warden eventually found electric extension leads to enable the three units to be pitched but they were the far side of the playing field away from the caravan. The reason for this as we were told on arrival was that the renovation construction of new bays etc was brought forward, this did not help us as it was like living on a building site with heavy plant working and lorries delivering hardcore for 2 days starting early in the morning from 7:30am which in turn made the site very muddy due to the bad weather and vehicles constantly coming and going due to the building work. if we were made aware of this we would have changed our booking to a different site as this was a family holiday travelling from south west wales and scotland to meet up in total there was 15 of us camping. A definite disappointment .

Directions

The park is approximately 9 miles from the M6 motorway, Junction 34. From here it should take you about 20 minutes.

Leave the motorway at Junction 34 and head towards Lancaster along Caton Road on the A683. After about 2 miles you will come to a major set of traffic lights with a big brown building right in front of you. Move into the righthand lane as you approach the traffic lights. Stay in the righthand lane and follow the one-way system round until you come to the next set of lights (car wash to your right). Keep in the righthand lane and go through these lights and the next lights which are immediately after. Filter into the lefthand lane and follow the signs for Heysham and Morecambe along Morecambe Road, the A589. After about a mile you will come to a large roundabout. Go straight across then turn left at the next roundabout onto the A683 dual carriageway heading towards Middleton and Overton. Go straight on the A683 dual carriageway for about 3 miles until you come to a large roundabout and turn left onto Middleton Road, heading towards Middleton (signposted Middleton Industrial Estate). Follow Middleton Road for about a mile and half until you see a small chapel on a bend. On the bend take the right turn onto Carr Lane following signs for Middleton Sands. Keep going on Carr Lane, take two sharp bends left, then right; carry on for about 100 yards then turn left at the sign for Greendales Farm and Bowland View Caravan Park at the top of the lane. Turn left and park up then call at the house. You are now at Greendales Farm Caravan Park (if you miss the site you will find a large static caravan park - this is not Greendales so please turn around and retrace your steps).

Note that when the satnav says you have reached your destination, turn left as instructed and Greendales Farm Caravan Park is on your left.

Local attractions

Greendales Farm is a mile from the nearest beach, sandy Half Moon Bay at Heysham: take the dog here for a run on the sands at low tide then stop off for sausages or a bacon barm at the local café. The beaches, shops, pubs and restaurants of Morecambe are just over three miles away.

Also within a short drive are plenty of quiet walks, dog kennels if needed and Heysham village and its two country pubs dishing up top-notch food. Climbing and caving are easily reachable in the Yorkshire Dales or Lake District national parks.

For a city day out, Lancaster is just over five miles away: head here for the day to see the maritime museum, cathedral and Lancaster Castle, or to spend some holiday funds in the many shops and stalls in Market Gate and Lancaster Leisure Park.
