Everything about this lake was fantastic, it took us 2 hours to drive here and we did not get here till gone 7, the man who owns the shop then opened it up for us to get our bits which we was really happy about, he was a really nice man shared his knowledge with us which is being the only two to net fish that night! The temperature has dropped so fishing slowed down, we only had one bivvy so he helps us find just the right spot baring in mind it was completely dark, as of below we didn't see any rats at all which is unusual in a venue like this, next day we met the owner and his wife and dog, have to say they are lovely people not rude at all so not sure what the other comments are on about, fish are of perfect quality literally! Also they gave us a menu for the local pizza place that delivers to the site (perfect) honestly could not recommend enough really nice people will be attending again in the near future plus they even have showers! /and also proper toilets instead of porta loo's like most others

Rat infestation! Insects, bites, Sewage smell, rude owner, horrible!!! 30/07/2016

Absolutely nothing at all apart from the family next to us who had the same issues

Upon arrival we noticed a really really bad sewage smell, the owner was nit on site for 3 days to ask about this, on the first night both myself, my family including my little boy were all sick, this was also the case with the family next to us on their first night, after this we got fishing, the tackle shop was closed all of the time and when it was opened the owner and the staff didn't have any idea of any bait or advice, they just sold stuff they said. On our first night, we were camping out in our bivvies while my wife and baby stayed in the lodges, we had paid to fish and stay in lodges. We noticed straight away that there were rats starting to appear everywhere, as the light faded, there were so many rats it was really uncomfortable, we had to move all of our tackle and bait to stop the rats getting it all, my lad was so scared, we needed to move his bed hair into my bivvies as he would not stay in his own, it was the worst infestation of rats I had ever seen, I understand that they live by water and have fished for a long time all over and seen rats here and there but this was different, they were huge and didn't care if you made noise, they just came and came, they nibbled my bivvies and ruined a lot of my tackle. I also received a call from my terrified wife in the lodge we paid £440 for 4 nights plus our fishing on top to say that there were rats all over the lodge balconies eating Chris's that my baby had left out, there were also insects all over the place, this was terrible. My lad dint want to stay out again, this ruined the fishing holiday he was so looking forward to. When the owner arrived on our last day! The first thing he said was, how long are you fishing till today, I replied that I was fishing until the afternoon as agreed and paid for, he pulled a face and then said, make sure your wife is out of the cabin by 10am as the cleaners need to clean it, he was so rude. He then came back and said, I need you off the peg in an hour as someone else wants it, I said that this was not the deal and that we were due to fish all day, he argued with me in front of my boy who is 8, I explained that my tackle cost over 12k and that it would take me over an hour to pack it all up, he was really rude to me in front of my boy at the end of our holiday that was already ruined by what I hadn't even spoke to him about yet, he then walked off and said don't come back, this really annoys me in front of my 8 year old son. I spoke to him privately after this about the other incidents and he was dismissive stating that your going now so don't come back, basically, I've got your money so I don't care, I spoke to the other family and he had said the same to them who were due to fish that day, he had overbooked and kicked off he people who were in their last days fishing holiday. I also spoke to the bloke who was being moved into our peg who was also extremely annoyed, he said that he had been there a week but had just been told he needed to move off the peg he was on for a day as it had been double booked, hence him moving me and my son to accomodate this, the bloke was moving back to his peg for another week after this. The owner and his staff are extremely unhelpful, the owner in particular talks to you like a child, is extremely rudand once he has your money, does not care at all how your stay has been, not once was I asked about my stay by anyone on site, I would say that if you are thinking about staying here, look elsewhere, if it is fishing that you are after, a day session would be ok if you don't mind smells but the rats at night and the smell is just too unbearable for longer than a day. If you want to have a really horrible time and give some of your hard earned money to somebody who does not care one bit about his customers, then this may be for you, if you want a nice time and good customer care, avoid this place at all costs, it is the worst place I have ever been to in my life, that was what my little boy said too.
