General

  • Pop-up farm site one kilometre from the Lake District National Park
  • A short walk from the beach; half an hour’s drive from Coniston Water
  • Views of Black Combe in the distance; communal barn area to socialise

Can’t quite decide between a break by the sea and the waters of the Lake District? Luckily, at Hall Green Farm Campsite, you may opt for both, as this site is one kilometre from the edge of the Lake District National Park, half an hour from Coniston Water and within walking distance of the beach too.

Part of a traditional farm, five minutes’ drive from Millom, you’ll be able to get back to nature a little and socialise with other guests in the communal barn area.

This area of England's west coast is rather scenic, of course, and the views start on site. Here, you may kick back with Black Combe in the distance (a nice reminder of the Cumbrian Fells and five minutes’ drive away if you fancy climbing to the top of the summit).

On a clear day, from the top of Black Combe, you may also spot the Isle of Man, Dumfries, Anglesey and the Blackpool Tower. Then there’s the scenery down at the beach (with many a splendid sunset). It’s a 40-minute walk to Silecroft beach, a sandy stretch where you may go horse riding or seabird spotting.

When you’re ready to track down for some tasty local produce, there are many spots that you may dive into, from the steak and burgers specialities at the restaurant in Brockwood Hall 10 minutes’ drive away (just make sure you book in advance) to real ales and homecooked food in a Seathwaite pub (30 minutes’ drive), when you’re down that way.

I want to give a positive review as this is a new pop-up camp-site project which has only been open a couple of weeks .. the site is spacious and has good sized pitches, the field is fairly flat and has lovely views of the local hills and is only a 4 minute car trip to the village which has your usual handy shops.

The staff are very nice and pleasant and we received a lovely text on the morning asking how we were and how our journey was unfolding, upon arrival we were able to choose a spot then 'check in' and meet the team

Expect to have fairly basic amenities for the time being, portaloos, a nice rustic barn/out-building with seating and candles, fridges, nice ambient lighting and a little pool table for any kids. There is a cold water tap so be aware that you will be getting back to nature a little unless you are literally bringing your kitchen sink :p

The roadside is close by but we didn't find it a problem in the evening as traffic wasn't an issue, there are regular trains that pass behind the lower field which added to the ambience of camping (for us)

We will be coming back and encouraged the staff to keep developing the site as we believe it has long term growth and can really evolve into something rather awesome, what might be a little rough around the edges is still a nice spot currently reflected in the very fair affordable pitch fee

Can't wait to see the direction this keen team take it :)

Liked- simple system for setting up site. Nice views, was good to have the barn for cooking in the rain.

    Disliked:

Toilets got full quickly and I felt they needed more toilets, there was no water in the toilets to wash your hands.
