Lanefoot Farm Campsite is a peaceful site in a picturesque setting, between Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwate beneath Whinlatter Forest, with panoramic views of the surrounding fells. Thornthwaite is just 3 miles from the busy market town of Keswick in the north western area of the Lake District National Park. It is an excellent base for touring the Northern Lake District. The well known fells of Catbells, Grizedale Pike, Great Gable, and Skiddaw are all easily accessible.
The campsite has toilets (freshly decorated), showers (with underfloor heating), washing up sinks (in a warm room), and electricity hook up points (for both caravans and tents). We also have an Information Room - with local maps and leaflets; a Drying Room - for after those wet days on the fells; and a small Shop - where we sell all the breakfast essentials sourced from local suppliers, as well as marshmallows for the campfires!
Campfires are permitted on both fields. We have fire containers on site which must be used for the campfires. We have kindling and kiln dried logs for sale, which guarantee a good campfire.
The Campsite is divided into 2 fields, which are both approximately 2 acres in size. The Meadow Field has some mature tree screening, and is divided by the meadow flowers and grasses which grow there. It is a more secluded camping area, with views towards Skiddaw, Barrow and the Helvellyn range. The Open Fieldhas views towards Catbells, Skiddaw and Lord's Seat. It presents an open camping area, with plenty of room for everyone.
