Lonsdale Park offer memorable fishing holidays with luxury accommodation, we have endeavoured to recreate the golden days of angling. As our guest you will have the opportunity to fish on five private lakes in over 40 acres of unspoiled country estate.

Our lakes are home to many different species and each lake has its own unique character, making us a great all round coarse fishing venue. The flat nature of the grounds, combined with our excellent paths makes access easy for all.

We're located near to Carlisle, on the doorstep of the Lake District and famous Hadrian's Wall Country.

Fishing is free on all five lakes, and the entire estate is exclusive to guests April to October. A limited number of day fisherman are permitted November to March. Our aim is to ensure our lakes are never crowded, some days you may even have one all to yourself!

All of our accommodation has its own private fishing pegs, most of which are only a pole's length away from the back door!

Lonsdale Park is the site of the old Lonsdale Brick and Tile Works, which was owned by the Lonsdale Family. Many parts of the site date back to 1869.

The site is set over flat ground, and features excellent paths throughout, something which is often remarked on by our guests is how easy it is to access our waters, no uphill hikes here!

The ponds are old clay pits, so often have a rich colour - especially when the fish are feeding!

Some under water features are remnants of the ponds industrial heritage, and are marked on our site map.

Lonsdale Park is also a SSSI, which is a site of special scientific interest, designated by Natural England. This accolade is a result of the careful conservation work which has encouraged and preserved a wide variety of wildlife, with many rare birds and orchids found on-site

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful (Emma is learning to fly fish with them), and the site is home to 2 pools. Just outside the city centre, Carlisle’s impressive castle is an English Heritage site open to the public. Over nine centuries old the castle was originally an impressive Roman Fortification, and later as a castle was a site of imprisonment for Mary Queen of Scots, and saw action during the English Civil War, and Jacobite Risings. Guided tours of the castle are available with several events throughout the year - we recommend a visit! http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/carlisle-castle/
