General

  • Family-run park a mile from Oulton Park Circuit
  • Set in the countryside with views over the Cheshire plains
  • Shop on site selling locally sourced bacon, eggs and sausages

If you're off to Oulton Park Circuit to see the fast cars, you might want a speedy return to base after a long day of envy. And you'll have it at Cheshire's Elm Cottage Touring Park, which is just a mile from the circuit as well as within easy reach of other popular pulls in the area like Chester, Delamere Forest, the north Wales coast, Snowdonia, the Peak District, Liverpool, Manchester…

Elm Cottage is family owned and run, set in Cheshire countryside and surrounded by farming fields with a view across the Cheshire plains. It has an eco-friendly toilet block with free showers, constant hot water, underfloor heating, hairdryers and an easy access shower for family users or disabled guests.

There's also a big exercise area for dogs and a play area for ball games, a large selection of tourist info at reception, and a shop on site selling locally sourced bacon, eggs and sausages plus basic grocery and non-food items as well as soft drinks and locally made ice cream.

A popular pub serving good food and ales is a short distance from the site entrance and two pubs are in the local village of Little Budworth. If you fancy pizza, the Elm Cottage owners dish it up every Friday evening during the summer, freshly made in the site's new pizza oven.

Well organised and lovely helpful wardens. The owl sanctuary in the little garden was a lovely surprise and the local bird population was in fine tune.

Thanks for reviewing our site. It's always great to have feedback about our wardens as they work really hard to ensure all our guests have a great time. Glad you liked the owls too!

We've just got back from a one night stay at Elm Cottage Touring Park and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The site is well set out with a little shop, very clean amenities and a great owl garden which our daughter loved. A nice touch was a washing up area with drying racks, recycling bins and there were plenty of water points. We would've liked a small play area as it's a nice way for children to make friends but how many campsites have beautiful owls? There were staff working constantly around the place keeping it clean. Not one spot of rubbish - anywhere! Staff were welcoming and gave us a map and directions to the Egerton Arms pub. We had a lovely stroll along the by way on the edge of Little Budworth meeting dogs and horses along the way. The pub was a welcome sight and there was a cricket match taking place in the neighbouring field. The pub isn't cheap but it does colourful kid's cocktails and great food; the snack board was ideal for the 3 of us - 4 dishes and chips was £22. We took a shorter route home to Elm Cottage and enjoyed a lovely quiet evening back at the van. The Shrewsbury Arms is a 5 min walk from the site and this also has a large grassed beer garden and does food but we didn't visit. However, we will be back to Elm Cottage!

Thanks so much for taking the time to post such a comprehensive review Caroline. We appreciate that many of our guests would love a play area and we are constantly debating the issue ourselves! Watch this space!
We're glad the loved The Egerton...we always feel confident recommending it as it's our favourite pub. We look forward to seeing you again soon, maybe when we're serving our wood-fired pizzas. Loved you photos too!

the staff were extremely helpful, it was a really busy start everyone arriving at the same time. weather was not good either. great toilet block clean, the shop had lots of items for sale. pitches were nice and large. great family atmosphere, the pizzas made and sold on site were good and a different. I am sure the children who did the Easter egg hunt were happy to find all the eggs. the Owl's were lovely to see so close up.

The owners where very helpful when I’d run out of gas late last be evening and couldn’t do enough to help. They also have a dog walk which was great, but could use a path during wet periods

A child’s play area would help transform a great campsite into a brilliant site

Thank you Gary for the pictures and review, we do appreciate it. See you next time. The child's play area debate does continue....
