Aqueduct Marina Caravan Park: Some images around the site

General

  • Peaceful park in the centre of the Cheshire canal network
  • 100-acre site five miles from Nantwich with easy access from the M6
  • Heated amenities; barbecue and picnic areas; café with licensed bar

Given its name, you might reckon that this Cheshire site is right near some water. And you'd go to the top of the class, for Aqueduct Marina Caravan Park is on the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal, in the centre of the Cheshire canal network and surrounded by towpaths for waterside walks. Or might you just fancy sitting by the marina and watching the canal boats drift lazily by? (All the better to plot which type you're going to acquire when that lottery win is yours, all yours…)

Other lazy options at this peaceful park include the barbecue and picnic areas, or lounging around in the Galley café which has a licensed bar and monthly social events. The many shops, cafés and pubs of market town Nantwich are a five-mile drive away for lazy urban afternoons.

Aqueduct Marina is set on 100 acres of peaceful Cheshire farmland, with easy access to the M6 and off the B5074 in Church Minshull, near Chester and north Wales. Families, couples, small groups and dogs are all welcome.

As well as the barbecue and picnic areas, the park owners have also added a secure night-time barrier, CCTV, a DIY servicing bay and a recycling compound. A licensed bar is on site with monthly social events on the last weekend of the month.

Amenities are bang up to date on site too and include showers and toilets with underfloor heating and hairdryers, as well as a laundry room with washing machine, dryer and ironing table.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Group bookings of 10 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Tents are not accepted at this park.

The café is open from 9.30am until 4pm Monday to Sunday.

Nice site in a lovely location14/03/2023

The site is located on the marina with lovely walks along the canal in both directions direct from the site
We were emailed our pitch number and barrier code on the day of arrival which was fine so we didn't have to go to reception until we had set up.
The pitches are level and spacious and the service pitches have water and gray waste outlet.
The TV reception was fine but the free WiFi only works when near reception but wasn't an issue for us.
Reception has a booklet which is free of charge which has a number of local walking routes direct from the site.
The site has a cafe that is open daily which is reasonably priced we didn't eat there but had a drink and sat watching the narrow boats in the marina.
The toilets and showers are clean and tidy but are located away from camping pitches at the reception area.
The usual bins are located in the camping area and the elsan point is over by the marina carpark.
I have included some "dislikes" but the comments are really observations and didnt spoil our visit and wouldn't put us off visiting again

    Disliked:

The only issue we encountered was we had pitch 13 which is directly behind the access barrier.
They seemed to be a lot of traffic during the late evening and even into early hours of the morning( we understand it is a working marina)
Due to the cars having to stop and input the barrier code we had a lot of loud music as cars stopped and opened the window to input the code.
The toilets and showers had no security code on the door so allowed access to any visitors to the marina or even people accessing the canal paths.
we had no issues during our stay but ue to there only being 2 showers 2 toikets in both the ladies and gents toilets I imagine during the summer time it could be an issue

The site was clean and tidy. Well defined areas around the Marina. Cafe had a good selection of food and drink. Showers clean and tidy - did not smell. I always use a squeege when provided to mop out the shower after use, One wasnt availble.

    Disliked:

Minor point- The black water area could do with a mop or similar for the floor after use.

Local attractions

Aqueduct Marina Caravan Park's Cheshire location and easy access from the M6 means it's in a most handy spot to get to heaps of tourist attractions around this part of the north west and Chester.

A popular option in the area is Oulton Park, the racing track in the little village of Budworth that bills itself as the most picturesque track in all the land, or you could hike around the wilds of nearby Delamere Forest, or stick to lazy days and potter around small Cheshire villages like Tattenhall and Tarporley.

Chester is also easily accessible from the caravan park and has heaps to see among its old streets and swish shops. Animal fans make their way to Chester Zoo on the outskirts of the city to see as many as possible of its 12,000+ animals and over 400 species; if nature is your animalish thing, also get along to the Blue Planet Aquarium and its 100 or so living displays including the biggest school of sharks in Europe.

Green fingered? Clear the car boot and drive over to Bridgemere, one of the biggest garden centres in the world and with all things gardenlike as well as toys and clothes in its mammoth shopping centre.
