General

  • Family-friendly site in village used as location for Emmerdale
  • Bar, playground, games room and function room
  • 10 miles from the Yorkshire Dales National Park and 11 from Leeds

Spacious pitches, scenic Yorkshire surroundings, proximity to Leeds, and a pint in the Emmerdale pub of the Woolpack all await at Esholt Sports Club, a family-friendly site set in the village used as the location for the TV soap.

It's all in scenic countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire village of Esholt, two miles east of Shipley, five miles north of Bradford and 11 miles west of Leeds. Esholt found fame as the original setting of Emmerdale: fans of the show will probably recognise several other village locations while here. (And whether you're a fan or not, a pint at the Woolpack is probably a top idea...)

The pitches and facilities of the site are within the grounds of Esholt Sports & Leisure, which has a well-stocked bar, a playground, a games room and a function room available for hire. Amenities for guests include toilets, showers, a launderette, a washing-up area and a chemical disposal point.

Esholt is well placed for visiting heaps of Yorkshire attractions, such as the museums of Leeds and Bradford, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

We loved everything here!!!!! Fantastic spot the site is so well kept and welcoming in such beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
Of all the campsites we have been to this was by far our favourite - back to basics with the kids playing frisbee, tennis and football on the huge field.
Unlike other camping trips we have returned home feeling fully refreshed and relaxed and clean (good , hot showers ).
Also had a drink in the club bar which was reasonably priced with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Staff and locals are so friendly and welcoming so we're looking forward to returning soon.

Loved the whole week, Bob and Paul really made us feel welcome, we even extended our stay by 3 nights!
The club house was a lovely place to go to and the game boards and pool table were welcomed by my two children. As too was the free wifi!! On the Friday night 2 men decided to have far too much to drink and a bust up but this was nothing to do with the owners and should not be reflected on the overall site! I actually contacted the owner with the number they had given us in our welcome pack and they went to the campers straight away, they also told them to leave and then apologised to all the campers on site, explaining that that kind of behaviour wasn't acceptable and they would not stand for it! The toilet facilities were great, there are 4 rooms in total with one toilet and between 2/3 showers, which were lovely, hot and very powerful! For £12 a night WITH electric it is one of the cheapest sites I've been to. The location was fantastic and everyone was so lovely and friendly. There was even a cricket match on Saturday with a BBQ! We enjoyed it that much I contacted my family and they came up to us in a tent and caravan for the weekend at short notice. We would definitely be going back again. Thank you for a great holiday, we wish you every success in the future!

Local attractions

As it's Yorkshire, walks among spectacular scenery are all around: make for the Yorkshire Dales National Park 10 miles away to access many miles' worth as well among traditional villages and old market towns. If you're feeling a tad inactive, tour the park by car; if not, other adrenalised activities including mountain biking, horse riding, caving, gorge scrambling or open-water swimming.

For towns and shopping, Otley, Ilkley and Skipton are all nearby: Otley (six miles) is a Walkers Are Welcome town and has a number of walking trails that start and end in the town; Ilkley has a toy museum and walks onto Ilkley Moor to see the Cow and Calf rock formation (nine miles), and Skipton (18 miles) is where you'll find the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and barge trips on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal.

Four miles away is the famed village of Saltaire, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with several galleries and exhibitions including works by the artist David Hockney, who grew up in Bradford. There's an 11-day festival in the town every September and the Saltaire Arts Trail arts festival runs every May.

The nightlife, shopping, restaurants and museums of Bradford and Leeds are five and 11 miles away.
