General

  • Family-friendly site and activity centre on the outskirts of Doncaster
  • Easy links to the national motorway network
  • A 10-minut walks to the local town of Hatfield

South Yorkshire activity seekers: sorted. Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre and Campsite on the outskirts of Doncaster has quite the heap of active options on site – and is in an area with plenty more in the surrounds, from golf to hiking to hurtling around indoors at the Doncaster Dome.

The active options on site are land and water based, and include courses, group sessions, team building, parties, canoeing and outdoor swimming. Or you could just use the site as a base to potter around Doncaster and South Yorkshire, or as an overnight stopover easy to access because of its nifty links to the national motorway network.

Hatfield is family friendly, with facilities including a toilet and shower block, a chemical disposal point, a washing-up area and a deep sink for clothes washing. A play area and vending machines are also on site.

It's a 10-minute walk to the old town of Hatfield, where supplies can be picked up at the local newsagent, post office, mini-market and off-licence and bakery; there are also restaurants and pubs for tiffin and teas.

Responsible dog owners are welcome at the site.

Not to far from home for us For a weekend away we usually take the kids with there scooters as there is a skate park just across the field beside the camp site plus a small park inside the campsite Was met by a very helpful young lady on reception nothing seemed to much trouble as we had a slight problem with having no electricity from our hook up and she came across straight away to sort it , new electric showers installed and no more paying £20 for a fob for gate and toilet block (BUT) the new keyed entry is a pain also has water sports which is brilliant in the summer

    Disliked:

The new keyed security locks on the toilet blocks if a child wanted to use them they would have no chance as they wouldn’t reach the buttons never mind remembering a 6 digit code Apart from the new shower units the facility’s Still need updating and regular cleaning as 3 out of 5 of the men’s toilets was out of order and the chemical waste point was full of leaves on the floor And had bags of rubbish beside it also don’t like how anyone not on site can just walk through The main gate to a opening at the top of the site as a shortcut to the field to walk there dog Especially when there is a lane that runs beside the full length of the site for access to the field for anyone else ,This is access for site users That’s if the dog makes it that far and doesn’t do it’s business walking through the campsite which I saw twice over the weekend noticed also people just wandering looking at peoples caravans Luckily there was only four of us on site as well as a few tents but concerning definitely need there security sorting,

No one else there at the time, adventure playground for the kids and plenty of hot water for showers. Grounds well maintained and right beside fields and paths for playing and riding bikes as well as being on the activity centre lake. Helpful staff to give advice on the phone. Level pitches with electric hooks easily available and all facilities in the toilet block.

    Disliked:

Would be really packed if all pitches occupied and the toilet block needs a bit of a tidy up. I'd say it really could do with making more of the link to the activity centre - it seemed to be closed all the time when we were there and we probably would have done some things if we knew how.
Watch the sat nav on the last 1/4 mile - ours took us off Old Thorne Road onto North Ings Road which you really don't want to go down with the caravan.
