    Basically Nothing !!!!

    Disliked:

Myself, husband and son stayed here for a long weekend in our tourer, on arrival we had to move not once but twice as other touring parties had parked on touring pitches, we said to staff who just told us to move our pitch!!!!!, we felt that pitch's here are too close together on one side yet pitches across are double the size for no extra cost?????? we had to ask the people across from us if we could park our car beside there's due to having fire hydrant and water point on our pitch, the toilet and shower facilities are very basic and run down, with push button showers only good thing is water is hot. Paid for WiFi for my son which was non existent. My husband and son who are keen fisherman went to the receiption to get a fishing permit where the staff seemed so very unhelpful, even although fishing is advertised!!!!! The bar/restaurant food was definite very basic frozen food we had better food cooked on our BBQ. We have left it 12yrs before returning to this site as we thought surely in 12yrs things would be better than our first experience and I was totally shocked at standards, cleanliness and helpfulness of staff, but the biggest shock was what they charged for the exact same things they had 12yrs ago which haven't in anyway, shape or form been updated or renewed. Please take my advise stay away...

Large level pitch with electic, easy access, pub just up the road, adequate shop on site.

    Disliked:

Not Motorhome friendly, no waste water rollover, most water points at the rear of other pitches so poor privacy. Shower block to small & dated. Too expensive £35 for a standard pitch.

Very friendly and efficient staff who gave a warm welcome. Large, and level, pitch took van, awning and car with room left over, and plenty of fresh water taps around the touring site. Toilet block was spotless and the showers had plenty of hot water. Shop open 8.30am to 10.00pm with very reasonable prices.
Good location for visiting the local area - coast was 15 minutes drive and Alnwick about 20 minutes.
Wooler has a really good pub, The Black Bull, which serves excellent food and is dog friendly.
Stayed four nights - would recommend to all.

    Disliked:

Toilet block dated and not big enough for the number of vans/ pods on site, and the waste water drain a bit small - if not careful you can easily overspill onto the path.
Did not use the on site bar as dogs were not allowed in, so went into Wooler to eat.

Local attractions

Trip-trap over the bridge from Riverside Country Park to Wooler, a pretty medieval market town with some alluring eateries, pubs and shops, and the ideal starting point for walks into the Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland National Park. Cycling, fishing, golfing and horse riding fans will also find rich pickings nearby.

If you haven’t explored the Northumberland coastline before, you’re in for a treat. Expect atmospheric ancient edifices in spectacular surroundings, such as Bamburgh Castle and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne; seaside villages like Seahouses, where you can jump aboard a sea safari boat to the Farne Islands; and miles and miles of nature reserves and wide sandy beaches.

You can follow Hadrian’s Wall westbound from its start point in Wallsend, stopping off at Roman forts in scenic settings as you head in the direction of Carlisle; travel along peaceful country roads to explore the Scottish borders; or south to visit Alnick Castle and the Alnick Garden, contemporary gardens with one of the world’s biggest treehouses.

For city lights, hit the A1 for an easy ride to Newcastle and Gateshead, both buzzing with culture (try the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art or a gig at the Sage Concert Hall), museums, football, restaurants, nightlife and shops; or head further north for a day trip to Auld Reekie to explore the many-splendoured delights of Edinburgh.
