  • Bell Tent Camping on a Northumbrian Working Farm by the Sea
  • Upgrade to our Shepherd's Hut for added Luxury
  • Tougher Souls can opt to Wild Camp by the Beach

Get away from modern life and wind down by staying in one of our traditional canvas bell tents, or bring your own tent and wild camp near the beach, at The Bells of Hemscott.

We operate a Pop Up site that is open for parts of July and August and have a Canvas Village of pre-erected tents and also a Wild Camping area for you to bring your own.

The Bell Tents and our Shepherds Hut are in a large meadow field called the Canvas Village that overlooks a large pond that is teeming with wildlife, including our resident swans and all kinds of other birds. You will be camped on pasture land on our working farm with acres of land to enjoy walking and wildlife spotting. We also have very clear and dark skies to enjoy stargazing.

The Canvas Village has brand new composting loos and hot showers as well as a kitchen shelter for cooking and washing up. The site is a back to basics camping experience and has no electricity. Cars are not allowed on the meadow but you can park just outside it so not too far to walk. There is a hot tub that can be privately booked and we also operate sunset alpaca treks from the tents (limited availability so book in advance).

We are on an amazing sandy beach at Druridge Bay that you can easily wander over to and enjoy a barbecue or a dip. The beach stretches for seven miles with adjacent country parks and cycle routes along the way. Watch the sun rise on the beach and set over the ponds and into the distance.

If you prefer your camping a bit wilder we also have a wild camping area on the links and dunes with only compost loos, a tap and shelters to hang your solar showers in to get washed after a day on the beach. But we think the location next to the beach makes the lack of facilities worth it.
