Seeking serenity in scenic countryside but get antsy if you’re not close to the bright lights? Holds that thought. City, countryside, a coast to coast cycle route and, er, free-range and curious chickens are all features of very popular and very fab Yapham Holds Farmhouse Campsite, which will see sorted those who ditheringly fancy both urban and rural on one break.
The farm is nicely rooted in rural North Yorkshire countryside that verges on the Yorkshire Wolds, but is a grand and easy drive into also very fab York (even more simples, Park and Ride to York from the bus station near the farm, which has additional services to Beverly and Hull.) Bring your bike too if poss: Yapham Holds is right on the Way of the Roses 170-mile coast to coast ride from Morecambe to Bridlington and a couple of miles from the six cycle routes weaving around the countryside from the nearby market town of Pocklington.
Yapham Holds is popular for its added little touches as well as its location, like flowers and wine available on request, flowers and handwash in the spotless loo and shower block, and the knowledgeable welcome from hosts Steve and Jan who can advise on all there is to do in the area from museums to York ghost walks.
You might spy a few little touches in the heated and insulated Gothic camping pods too if you’re on site for a spot of York glamping: takeaway menus, a TV/DVD and barbecue hire always get the Pitchup.com vote, as do flowers and wine available on request… Yapham Holds also has pitches for tents, tourers and motorhomes, with electric hook-up, a washing-up area and chemical disposal available to all guests. Dogs are welcome on site.
And the chickens? Get supplies from Pocklington two miles away and fire up the barbecue pitchside or from the decking of a camping pod to see the poultry wobble enthusiastically forth: they seem to be very much sorted in this lovely location too.
Groups/parties of more than 4 adults are not accepted via Pitchup.com.

It's now possible to make group bookings on Pitchup.com for up to 30 adults and 30 children.
As long as the 'one unit per pitch' rule is not highlighted on the pitch type information (please check this before completing your booking), you will be able to pitch your tents together on one booking.
If you are not satisfied with the results generated, try breaking your booking down for more options. For example, if you're a group of 10, enter five people for your initial search and book two pitches. Use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together when booking multiple pitches or accommodation units: the campsite or park will try to grant your request. Click the 'Make another booking like this' button on the confirmation page to take you back to your chosen campsite/park listing page so you can make your next booking straight away. Please note the same dates and party size will be used, so you'll need to change this if the number of people or child ages are different.
Before booking, please check the listing page for any group restrictions. These normally appear in a section titled 'Please note'. Please also check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit - especially for a large party - is suitable for the space you will be provided with.
