Set in North Yorkshire countryside on the outskirts of the village of Slingsby, Robin Hood Caravan Park is a pretty, family-run site with a good range of amenities, six miles east of Malton and close to the North York Moors. The well-kept park includes a treasure trail for your little treasures (around the park and into the local village) and a play area with swings, climbing frame, bouncers and slide, all on safe surfacing. There's also a licensed shop, a launderette and a clean and cosy toilet and shower block with hairdryers and shaving points. Local village Slingsby is within walking distance and has a country pub serving home-cooked meals, a village shop for sandwiches, sausage rolls and quiches, and a bakery with homemade cakes.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked: Excellent pitches with all your facilities. Very well maintained site a short strolll into the village. Well stocked shop for basics and friendly staff. Excellent ensuite toilet shower block half way up site. Great access to Malton. Visited for Eden Camp which is not far.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike in relation to the campsite but just for info mobile phone coverage poor here for 02 and three. You can buy wifi from a link from site though.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked: Everything! Really well laid out and well looked after site. Lovely clean, warm and dry toilet/shower blocks. Nothing to complain about at all. Definitely on our 'would return' list!

Disliked: Very minor moan, there appears to only be one chemical disposal point on site and it's a bit of a walk from some of the pitches. No hassle at all for me, but for older or less mobile folks it could be an issue potentially.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you very much for your kind words. I'll be able to show you where the other two chemical disposal points are on your next visit. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

From the manager: Many thanks for taking the time to review the park. Unfortunately, as we have discussed with PitchUp, the review provides inaccurate information. We hope the following provides a little more detail: As all staff members live on the park, we are available to speak to whenever guests are staying with us. We also regularly wander around the park chatting to guests and, on an evening, we ensure our 11pm quiet time is respected. There were no other noise complaints over the weekend. Clear opening hours for our shop/reception are displayed in the window. We open every morning from 9am to 10.30am and, whilst afternoon opening times reflect the number of guests we have staying, on a weekend, as was the case in this situation, we are open each morning and afternoon. Our review guests did not visit shop/reception. Prior to arrival, all guests receive a welcome email (always check your junk mail) which includes your pitch number, arrival instructions and a contact phone number for duty staff so, if you have any issues, you can give us a call. Our review guests did not call. Whilst our facilities are cleaned/checked multiple times a day, we get just as frustrated as guests when grass is traipsed around the toilet blocks. In this situation, it was a combination of wet weather and recently cut grass. Tarmaced (and gravel) pathways are provided but guests will still find shortcuts. Since we can’t follow every guest that uses our facilities we provide brooms in each of the toilet blocks to allow guests to help each other. We look forward to welcoming you to Robin Hood Caravan Park in the future.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked: We are new to motorhoming and booked this site as we wanted somewhere peaceful with lovely surroundings and great facilities. Robin Hood Caravan Park did not dissappint. Had a warm welcome from Damian who advised how we could pitch and where everything was. The site is very well kept and laid out. Very short walk to Slingsby village centre and local pub. Perfect spot for visiting Castle Howard, Malton, Helmsley etc. if you have a vehicle or if like us (as we only booked 2 nights) stay and enjoy the peacefulness of the site and surroundings. We will be back. WiFi not great on phone but in a way that was good as it encouraged us to do other activities rather than fixating on our phones! There is a telephone on site should you need it.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Local attractions

This is an excellent base from which to explore the lush landscapes of Yorkshire, from the Wolds to the Moors; it’s also easy to get to the Yorkshire coastline and the resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby, all with lots to see and do. For ramblers and cyclists, the Cleveland Way and Wolds Way both pass nearby, and there's diverse territory to explore, from wild moorland to dense forest, with plenty of lovely villages (and excellent pubs) in between. Harry Potter fans and locomotive lovers can have a trip aboard the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which chuffs its way across 18 miles of scenery and includes a stop at Goathland, the terminus for the Hogwarts Express. A 15-mile drive away is the ancient city of York, where visitors can walk around the city walls, be humbled by the majesty of the Minster, or take in one of the myriad museums and attractions. The National Railway Museum and Castle Museum are both highly recommended, and bloodthirsty bairns will enjoy York Dungeons and the growling Vikings in the reconstructions at the brilliant Jorvik Viking Centre. The streets are jampacked with tearooms, restaurants, bars and interesting independent shops: try Stonegate, Swinegate and the medieval Shambles for the best of the shopping. Castle Howard is very close by: take in the 18th-century architecture and interiors, roam around the gardens, woods and lakes, and keep the kids amused with a boat trip or a romp around the adventure playground. The packed events programme includes regular arts, crafts and produce markets, concerts and themed weekends. Also nearby are the Eden Camp World War II museum, Flamingoland adventure park and zoo, Dalby Forest and the treetop adventures of Go Ape.
