Local attractions

Our campsite offers a central location with lots to do for all ages in any weather. Catgill campsite is within a mile of Bolton Abbey and the River Wharfe making it the perfect base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Places to visit include:

Bolton Abbey Priory and the River Wharfe: features magnificent ruins dating back to the 12th century, a fountain memorial, a riverside picnic area and woodland walkways.

The Strid: a notorious and impressive part of the Wharfe where the water from the normally wide and gently flowing river is forced at high speed through a deep and narrow channel.

Hesketh Farm Park: a working sheep and beef farm with animals to feed and stroke, tractor tours and a straw maze.

The Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Factory: a '50s-style diner serving meals throughout the day along with the famous Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream.

Bolton Abbey to Embsay steam railway line: a steam railway with occasional visits from Thomas the Tank Engine.

Addingham: a local village with excellent pubs serving good food and local beers.

Skipton: a busy market town with a castle dating back to 1090, you can enjoy boat trips along the canal and a good selection of shops.

Ilkley: visit Ilkley moor and the Cow and Calf rocks, enjoy riverside walks and the start of the Dalesway footpath, take the kids to a lido and indoor swimming pool or visit the manor house which dates back to the 14th Century. Ilkley has a good assortment of independent and high street shops and the famous Betty's Tea Rooms.

Burnsall: a small village situated on the River Wharfe with a large grassy area for picnics and barbecues and a five arch bridge crossing the river.
