Canines will go barking mad for Cayton Village Caravan Park. Not only is this peaceful North Yorkshire park a mere ten-minute walkie from dog-friendly Cayton Bay, there’s a whopping four-acre dog walking area on site – and it’s floodlit so you can take the mutt to sniff around any time of day or night. That’s worth several woofs.

Thinking ‘pffft to the pooch, what about us campers and caravanners’? We can report that this Scarborough site is savvy for humanoids of all sizes too. It’s three miles from the sands of Scarborough, four from Filey and 14 from Bridlington, but placed neatly and secludedly in the countryside so those seeking peace can find it (those seeking vampires can find them too: Whitby is within 45 minutes’ drive. Ulp.)

Cayton Village is a beautifully maintained site – take a squint at the site pics – backed by Cayton Village Church and niftily designed to blend in with its natural surroundings, with acres of space for travellers with tourers, motorhomes or tents (really, take a squint at the site pics).

The park has a well-stocked shop and an up to date and roomy kids’ playground. To keep non-parents happy, the playground closes at 8pm (6pm early and late season); to keep parents happy, there’s a huge playing field – and maze – with loads of room for ball games, cycling and general running around until collapse.

Best of all for those who feel driven mad with driving: buses to Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington run right from the Cayton Village Holiday Park entrance.

Terms and conditions

Please read the park terms and conditions below and the terms and conditions.

Additional terms

1. We cater for families and couples and do not accept bookings from all male or all female parties of three or more persons. The management reserve the right to decline any application for a booking.

2. For your security, peace and quiet, the electronic gates do not permit access from 11pm – 8am. People arriving late or leaving early must place their unit in the designated area on the car park and use late arrival electrics. Visitors going out late or early need to park their vehicle in the car park. We request that all visitors observe the basic rules of camping and caravanning, i.e. no loud radios or noise at early or late hours and speed restrictions observed at all times.

3. Reservations are non-refundable and non transferable. The management cannot be held responsible for any change in circumstances. We strongly advise that you take out UK holiday insurance to cover yourself for any unforeseen circumstances.

4. We reserve the right to relet the pitch if you do not arrive by 6pm and no notification of late arrival is received.

5. Holiday period is 12 noon to 12 noon.

6. Children must be accompanied to amenities blocks; it is impractical for them to use the facilities by themselves. The toilets, shower, laundry and dishwashing rooms are maintained to a high standard and we ask your co-operation to keep them that way. Children must be supervised whilst playing on the playground equipment; the playground is provided for children aged from 18 months to 12 years of age. Children are not allowed to play at water standpipes. We accept the use of bicycles and skateboards on site; they must be used with due care and consideration for others. Ball games are not allowed around units or in the playground; use the recreation field provided. Children remain the responsibility of their parents/guardians.

7. Please observe a maximum 5mph limit at all times – this is for the safety of children on the park.

8. Dogs must not be left unattended in your vehicle, unit or awning at any time of the year. Dogs accepted on condition that they are on leads at all times on the park and they are exercised in the signed dog area. Any fouling must be collected and disposed of. Dogs are not allowed in the toilet blocks or shop.

9. Please inform us about day visitors and ask them to call in at reception.

10. We cannot guarantee adjacent pitches. The wardens allocate site on arrival.

11. Barbecues are allowed but must not be placed directly on the grass. Bricks are available to place disposable barbecues on. Please dispose in designated metal dustbins after the coals have cooled down to avoid the risk of fire. No campfires, log burners, Chinese lanterns or chimineas are allowed.

12. One car parking space is provided on or near the pitch. Additional vehicles must be parked on the overflow car park. Please note we do accept commercial vehicles but they may need to park in our overflow car park.

13. Electric awning heaters, gazebos, utility tents and generators are not allowed on site. Breathable groundsheets must be used in caravan awnings on grass pitches.

14. No caravan or tent must have a greater number of occupants than the specified number of berths.

15. Cayton Village Caravan Park shall not be liable for any loss or damage to your property by theft or otherwise or for personal injury. This does not however affect your right if loss or damage or personal injury occurred through fault on our part. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the location of your nearest fire point.

16. It is a condition of entry to the park that the caravan is fully insured for fire, theft, and third party liability.

17. If you have a complaint about anything during your holiday please raise it with a member of staff in reception immediately; we can then do our very best to resolve the issue straight away and if you wish to pursue it following your departure, please write to us within 28 days of your departure.

18. If you have any comments or suggestions of ways to improve the park please come to reception and complete a comment form or talk to a member of staff.

19. The management reserve the right to ask guests who contravene these terms and conditions or, who in any other way behave in a manner likely to cause distress or nuisance to other visitors, to leave the park immediately. In these circumstances the holiday ceases and we shall not be liable for any extra costs incurred by you.

20. When requests for specific pitches are received we will endeavour to accommodate them but must emphasise that this is not always possible. Specific pitches cannot be guaranteed and we reserve the right to allocate pitches at our discretion. We may on occasion move a booking previously allocated to a particular pitch, in order to make best use of our pitches – this may occur even when a specific pitch request has been received.
