General

  • Family-run site a few miles from Scarborough
  • Toilets, showers, playground and shop
  • Bar, restaurant, wifi and evening entertainment on site

Off to Scarborough? Fancy combining seaside sprees with wholesome hikes in the Yorkshire moors? Come and stay with Neil, Shaz and the friendly committed team at small, traditional and family-friendly , a few miles from the Yorkshire coast and on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. You might also feel that the park fry-ups and burgers are not to be missed either…

Loads of little touches are laid on to ensure guests have a chilled out time, but the Arosa team have paid particular attention to their amenities, including a clean shower block with hot air hand dryers, razor points, and sockets for the chaps to plug in their hair straighteners.

A playground, wifi throughout the park, waste disposal and a launderette are also available, and if you've forgotten any essential bits – like your toothbrush – the shop at reception stocks a good range of what you might need.

But more importantly, the fry-ups, burgers and other tasty treats… Proper-sized portions of food at proper prices can be tucked into at Sharon's Kitchen, dishing up home-cooked breakfast, lunch and evening meals including hog roasts and Sunday lunches.

Eat outside at the peaceful seating/barbecue roast area – see the site pics – or bring your plate into Joe's Bar; takeaway is available too if you'd rather eat pitchside.

Of an evening, settle down in the clubhouse bar for a good range of entertainment – karaoke, bingo, quiz nights and live music are all on the menu at weekends and in peak season – while the kids entertain themselves in the games room just upstairs.

Please note

Electricity is metered on site at 15p per kwH and must be paid at check-in/out (only pay for what you use).

Nice clean toilets /shower facilities. Liked the convenience of a takeaway van on the tent field .

    Disliked:

I appreciate its a family run business but all the facilities are based in one area right next to the outside bar /food area and found it embarrassing walking past all the people in my pjs . Tent pitch is located the farthest away from these when we are the ones with the least facilities when compared to tourers. No lighting on road/footpath so was a dark long walk at 4am when you needed to go to the toilet. Had to pay for electricity separate (which i was aware of) however a 7 minute shower was also an additional 50 p each so my total nightly cost of stay was actually £29.54 per night.
Rubbish skip was over flowing so bin bags were being placed on the floor.
Only 4 womens showers for whole site.
No wifi as was pitched too far away from main building.
Teenage Kids were constantly bored as no space for a game of football only a small games room which again cost money.

From the manager...

you should maybe think about going to a haven site in future we have on site what we advertise and do not try and compare to the larger haven sites, so people if that is what you are after please don't come here ,

Local attractions

To the coast first, perhaps, for a day or two at North Yorkshire's seaside capital Scarborough, the UK's first seaside resort and still going strong – the sands here are only three miles from Arosa.

Scarborough has the usual seaside town attractions including a fairground, donkey rides and a sealife centre, but those who want to explore further can try the Italian gardens, the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Britain’s only seaside orchestra, shopping at the Brunswick Centre, or gushing at the streams and mini waterfalls of pretty Peasholm Park.

Away from the seaside, weeks' worth of activities are nearby in North Yorkshire and the North York Moors National Park: take your pick from fishing, hiking, climbing, horse-riding, pony trekking, boating, waterskiing, and, more placidly, golf.

4 x 4 off-road driving is also available in the area, but to keep the kids happy, let them drive themselves loopy whirling around Go Ape at Dalby Forest.

Events are held in Scarborough and around the coast throughout the year too, like the Scarborough Fair, Scarborough Cricket Festival and concerts in the nearby forest and at Castle Howard near York: ask the Arosa team for details of what's on during your stay.

Less than 20 miles' drive will take you to simply spiffing Whitby, one of the most topping places on the Yorkshire coast and where Dracula bounded off his ship in Bram Stoker's book. Make sure to see Whitby Abbey, and if you're in town around Halloween, you might like to flap your cape at the Whitby Gothic Weekend.

Must see

  • Dalby Forest Visitor Centre (10.1 miles)
  • North Yorkshire Moors Railway (13.4 miles)
  • Burton Agnes Hall (13.5 miles)

National Trust

  • Bridestones, Crosscliff and Blakey Topping (9.2 miles)
  • Yorkshire Coast (11.7 miles)
