Cor. Here’s a site you’ll be happy to swan around: it’s in a hidden spot in the Yorkshire Dales, has a four-star tourist board rating, and there’s a seventeenth century inn on site dishing up home-cooked food among views of the moors and the Vale of York. Even more tiptop: each pitch price at Black Swan Holiday Park includes a £5 voucher to use in the pub. Per night, not per stay. Hurrah, hooray and pass the Black Sheep bitter.
No eating like a bird either: the Black Swan food is properly portioned with plenty to pick from and there are several veggie options as well as themed evenings such as steak nights (occasionally with non-local samplings like springbok or ostrich). The bar meals are served at lunchtime, with a bistro in the evenings and a roast lunch on Sundays with locally sourced meat and home made desserts, all with local and guest ales to wash it down.
Getting swan wards is also simple: the pub is easily reached from the A1 and is in the old village of Fearby two miles from the market town of Masham. Once there, there are two walks starting directly from the site; ask staff for copies of the routes.
Black Swan pitches are for tents, tourers and motor homes with optional electric hookup; there’s a shower and loo block and the site has free WiFi.
Single sex parties or groups of more than two units (8 people) are not accepted,
