Allo, allo, allo! What we have here then is quite a spectacular site from which to explore the heady heights of the Yorkshire Dales National Park: indeedly, it would be a crime not to. And all in the gorgeous mature parkland of the Grade I listed Georgian mansion Constable Burton Hall: on an arresting site behind the walls to its old deer park and with handsome views across peaceful local farmland. We’re nicked.
Constable Burton Hall Caravan Park is at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, at the entry to Wensleydale and near the market towns of Leyburn and Middleham medieval village; we smell cheese, shopping and heaps of history. Both Jervaulx Abbey and Richmond Castle are within six miles, and there’s a Good Pub Guide emporium on the doorstep, the eighteenth century and wonderful Wyvill Arms (we heartily recommend a Rudgate Ruby Mild over a game of chess and under a summer parasol).
Constable Burton Hall is a seriously serene site in a spot of spectacular scenery, yet close enough to everything for twitchy types who might fancy shopping, hiking, adventure sports or family days out. It’s also an ideal stopover for explorers from the south of England on their way to the Lake District and Scotland.
