General

  • With a pub overlooking the pool and the playground
  • Excellent views and immaculately maintained grounds
  • On-site 18-hole golf course

Oh, we’re all in a whirl. Not only does Rudding Holiday Park have a helipad for those who might like to pretend they’re Bond, James Bond, but its setting in the grounds of Rudding Park Hotel means you’ll be having a hol in the lap of luxury – even if you’re only bringing your natty old tent.

The grounds of this 50-acre park are whirly special, with a heated outdoor pool (charge applies), playground for little flyers and the Deer House pub; cleverly, the pub overlooks both the pool and the playground, and has a games room inside for competitive and/or rainy days. When having a wander, there are gorgeous gardens and woodland, splendiferous views and immaculately maintained grounds: Rudding Holiday Park is a previous winner of the AA 'Best Campsite in Britain' award and the friendly team keep facilities to the highest standards.

Park guests are welcome to hover around the hotel facilities too when landing at Rudding: there’s a spa, smart Clocktower restaurant with terrace and conservatory, and – our fave – a private 14-seat cinema to hire for parties or just because. Those seeking (whirly) birdies can take their teeing-off pick from the on-site 18-hole golf course, Repton Short Course, or golf driving range and academy.

All guests have access to the park’s two shower and loo blocks with free hot water and electric points for hairdryers and shavers; there's a launderette too, with coin washing machines and tumble dryers, an iron and ironing boards.

When taking flight off site, Rudding Holiday Park is minutes away from the A1 motorway to get to most of Yorkshire’s highlights, and it’s only two and a half miles from hanging out in Harrogate. Get to the chopper…

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 25/05 and 31/08 (subject to weather conditions).

Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

All: access to the swimming pool is not included in the rate and is charged £4.60 per person per 90-minute session.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

As we was about to set off on the Friday, i released i had booked the Saturday and Sunday night, i rang and Anne on reception sorted it out straight away (Thank You). We arrived on the site and it was very safe, you needed a key to gain entry onto the park. The site was really clean, we was close to the toilets which was good for us with small children and wasn't noisy. At 6am i did here a lawn mower on the Sunday, which is fine with us with small kids but i imagine it would have been annoying for families with older children. The pub food was priced ok but the drinks were expensive. Overall though, i really enjoyed this camp site. We also attended a bed race in the village, which was a lot of fun. Always the 2nd weekend in June. Thank you Rudding park, we will be returning :)

Beautiful place, huge place with lots to explore, the facilities are very well kept and really clean, everything clearly marked. Secure place to let the dog off the lead.

    Disliked:

My only moan would be the staff in the deer house pub, it was pizza night and we ordered a meat feast pizza and got given a pepperoni, when i spoke to the staff and said they had given us the wrong one. He said that he doesn't eat pizza so he didn't know and walked off. The pizza was nice it was just not what we had ordered and i was disappointed with the customer service.

    Location and the pub

    Disliked:

We where placed on. Apitch with a large chunk allocated to a concrete car park. We where told This was for the car, strangely no other pitch had this large concrete part for there cars. Turns out this was nonsense as it's an extension to the road opposite so larger vehicles can turn. Added to this we where placed under the only street light on the area, so we had daylight bursting into our tent all night, no sleep at all for us or the children. What made it even wost was the fact that we had empty pitches to the left and right and behind so we could have had a better pitch. When I complained the following morning I was pretty much told it was down to booking through pitch up... Thanks

All members of my family from young to old enjoyed the holiday, staff were friendly and helpful. Everyone as said they would revisit and we have recommended the site to our friends. The site and facilities were kept clean and well maintained.
    Thankyou.

    Disliked:

My only niggle was that we paid for an extra car but had to park one in the car park as otherwise there was no seating space outside the tent.

We have been before love the way the site is organised, peace, quiet & lovely scenery. The first time we visited it was Spring & very quiet but the most recent visit was during May bank holiday & was very busy.
However although busy we had a lovely stay. I badly needed to recharge my batteries & this was achieved with zero hassle & helpful staff.
Central for either lovely market towns or even the coast. Highly recommended.

Local attractions

When taking flight off site, Rudding Holiday Park is minutes away from the A1 motorway to get to most of Yorkshire’s highlights, and it’s only two and a half miles from hanging out in Harrogate. Get to the chopper…

York, Leeds and Harrogate are all easily accessed from Rudding, as well as smaller settlements like Malham, Knaresborough and Ripon with its ancient cathedral and less ancient racecourse. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is to the west and the North York Moors to the north-east for active options like caving, boating, climbing and horse-riding.

Visitors to North Yorkshire will find historical sites and museums of all flavours at every turn: a few of the eclectic options on offer museum-wise include the Eden Camp Museum in Maldon for a noisily realistic look at World War II, and the quite fascinating and award-winning Thackray Medical Museum in Leeds, taking the wide-eyed visitor back through the history of medicine.

York is well worth a look too – in fact we’re going to insist – for the Jorvik Viking Centre and the frankly jaw-dropping York Minster, the biggest gothic cathedral in northern Europe. If you fancy yourself as a ghostbuster, slither along to Treasurer’s House, the medieval home of the treasurers of York Minster and said these days to be positively heaving with spooks.

Plenty of historic houses and National Trust properties are within reach of Ruffing, such as Beningborough and Nunnington Halls, and the country’s most complete Cistercian abbey and biggest monastic ruin Fountains Abbey. Leave a good stash of extra time on a visit to walk and gawp around what else is on offer at this World Heritage Site, including the Georgian water garden of Studley Royal, the medieval deer park and the reading room in Fountains Hall.

If you’ve decided on a truly relaxing holiday and don’t want to move more than a few miles from your pitch, the village nearest to Rudding Holiday Park, Follifoot, is within strolling distance and has a horse-riding centre for all abilities as well as a couple of decent pubs in the Harewood Arms and Radcliffe Arms.

Must see

  • RHS Garden Harlow Carr (3.2 miles)
  • Harewood House (5.7 miles)
  • Fountains Abbey (10.6 miles)

National Trust

  • Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden (10.6 miles)
