Beautiful site, with stunning scenery. Quiet, with clean facilities, shop, open at weekends and good sized pitches, including individual water, power and to aeriels. Loads to do in near vicinity, both walking and other activities. Good pub within 5 mins walk or 20 minute walk into Pateley Bridge

    Disliked:

Have to pay for broadband. Would be better to charge 50p a night extra for each caravan and include complementary broadband.

Very quiet and very well kept site. A credit to the owner.
Easy walking distance to the town along the river bank.
Small but meticulously clean toilet/shower facility. Which was busy, but site was full and this was to be expected. But always clean and free from any odours.
Even supplied us with a TV ariel lead as he advised us there would be no signal.

    Disliked:

    No dislikes at all.

Picturesque and well looked after site 19/06/2017

Very well kept site, nice clean shower blocks. The while site is very picturesque, and there is a great dog walking area where you can let the dog have a run around. The pitches are very spacious with a generous grass area next to the pitches, all the pitches have a personal water tap which was great. Well stocked shop and the owner was nice and friendly. They charge for Wifi which is a bit annoying but to be fair it was cheap and they have a big mast in the middle of the field so very good connection. Will definitely be coming back next year for a longer stay to explorer the area further.

Local attractions

Pateley Bridge is where the Nidderdale Way starts and ends. There are walking, cycling and horse riding trails along its 53-mile stretch, you can also lead a llama through the Dales by contacting the local company. In the town of Pateley Bridge you'll find England’s oldest sweet shop but also the Nidderdale Museum in the old workhouse.

As it’s Yorkshire, there are historical highlights aplenty: Ripley Castle and its "Capability Brown"- landscaped gardens, the twelfth century Augustinian Bolton Abbey with nature trails winding through Strid Wood where you can find the hunting lodge of Barden Tower; there's also the dungeon depths of medieval Skipton Castle to explore and that's just to name a few. The stately homes of Newby Hall and Harewood House both have extensive gardens to wander as well as the usual ornate interiors. You can absolutely not miss Yorkshire’s first World Heritage Site, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, one of the biggest abbey ruins in England, 500 deer roam in the splendid medieval deer park.

The Yorkshire is also an area with no shortage of gorges, caves and geological features. There’s also the 80ft-deep How Stean Gorge with its roaring waterfalls and Tom Taylor’s Cave; the gorge itself can be explored via the network of footbridges and paths. Malham Cove and Tarn takes in a huge limestone cliff, the Gordale Scar gorge and the Malham Tarn nature reserve – there are several other nature reserves around too such as Gouthwaite Reservoir and Roundhill Reservoir.

For a well-deserved rest and pick-me-up, head to Harrogate to sup some spa waters and mash a tea at Betty’s Tea Rooms. Leeds and York are also both within driving distance for shopping, seeing the sights and taking in a show.

Must see

  • Fountains Abbey (8.4 miles)
  • RHS Garden Harlow Carr (11.5 miles)
  • Jervaulx Abbey (12.1 miles)
