General

  • Lively family-friendly park five minutes' walk from the beach

If you’re a delicate flower, there’s no need to wither in the sea when you fancy a swim – go for a toasty float in this park’s smart indoor pool instead.

Withernsea Sands Holiday Park is a lively site on the Yorkshire coast, with great facilities for families, including a kids' splash pool alongside the main pool, kids’ clubs, organised sports activities both in the pool and on dry land, and a pub restaurant and takeaway.

In peak season, there’s also an evening programme of rip-roaring entertainment and dancing (the vibe is quieter at other times).

The toilet & shower was immaculate, but we were the only ones to use them. Washing up facilities under cover.

    Disliked:

We were the only tent on the field. It was extremely water logged. So with a few more campers it would have been horrendous. Neighbours in statics who I presume are there for the season were very loud, bad language & thought they owned the place. Got up one morning to find a bread roll had been thrown in to the side of the tent. It wasn’t us that out it there, the statics were the only people around & it was noticed there was a big gaping hole in the hedge that they used as a shirt cut. Our storm guy ropes had been tampered with & unfastened off the poles which can not possibly have come off by themselves. They are there for a reason & are designed to withstand any kind of winds & gales. Kids were riding round the site on bikes jumping & banging on the portaloos. This was noted to the lady cleaning the toilets who said she would let security know. Never saw anyone patrol or check the site. We got to the stage where we felt uncomfortable so packed up & came home 3 days early.
Never again would we go back to Withernsea sands.
I can not comment on any other facilities as we didn’t use them.

We have been on this site a few times now and we like it. This time we were expecting everything to be shut down but we were surprised to find the complex open even though at 50%. The site is nice and looked after and clean and tidy and when we have stayed it has been quiet and relaxing. The staff are friendly and helpful and happy to show you what you need or where to go. So in general a nice place to stay and visit.

    Disliked:

We were on Chestnut grove this visit and the ground was very bumpy and lumpy and the shower block could do with updating like the shower block on Bluebell touring field which we have stayed a few times. Also a gate with a key code would be an asset beside the site shop as a short cut to the town . Also if the drinks prices were more reasonable there would be more people on per night spending more time and money making it more profitable for the park.

The location was right next to the toilets/shower cubical and also not far from the entertainment complex.

There was a children's playground in the middle of it all

    5mins away from town centre

    Disliked:

After been told on booking that we would get a phone call the day before and a email with all the booking in info, we received nothing. we arrived at the main reception to get welcome packs to be sent elsewhere, when we tried to look where we was meant to be going for the packs, we went back to reception to find it was infact reception we received the packs from.

We rang up the boathouse restaurant the day before arriving to book a table, it all went through ok. When arriving late after a long day of travelling and not eating much, we was left standing until another holiday maker told us we don't get seated and we just have to find a table, after speaking to the staff they told me they cant book tables so unsure why someone did the day before for us. we had problems booking on the food app and I thought that all our food had gone through but when it didn't arrive I asked the staff they had got it and they said no it hasn't gone through, so when I tried to order at the till they would not let me saying the food cut off time had passed by 5mins! I explained that I was unaware it hadn't gone through and I ordered it 30mins prior when food was opened and that wed been traveling all day and not eaten is there any chance they can just do it for us please, they told me no and that I had to buy some crisps or get something from a vending machine! needless to say I didn't use there services again.

The entertainment room is little and poor entertainment.

The beach is only a short walk away but nothing there (some people would prefer this) & down a steep hill

Check out time is 10am in the morning!

Local attractions

The beach at Withernsea is only a five-minute walk from the park, and has miles of clean golden sands.

Withernsea itself is a small and friendly resort with a lovely prom, open air theatre and a rare inland lighthouse, which now houses a museum. To the south of the town is Spurn Point, a nature reserve where visitors can spot seals, migrating birds and many unusual plants on the long, narrow spit of shingle.

There’s more to see and do around and about: a massive nuclear bunker to explore at RAF Holmpton, a 500-year old Napoleonic fort at Fort Paull, and thrills and spills aplenty at the nearby Pleasure Island Theme Park and The Deep Aquarium in Hull.

Shopaholics should also make time to hornpipe down to Hornsea, where they’ll dance with glee at the bargains to be had in the designer outlet village.

Must see

  • The Deep (14.3 miles)
  • Ferens Art Gallery (14.7 miles)
  • Far Ings National Nature Reserve (20.4 miles)

National Trust

  • Maister House (14.4 miles)
