General

  • Family park close to the Durham coastline
  • Smart facilities including a pool, Jacuzzi and sports centre
  • Spacious bar and restaurant

A pebble’s propulsion from golden sand dunes, with a perfect view of the blue-green ocean as far as the eye can see... Come and discover the splendour of the little-known Durham coastline at Crimdon Dene Holiday Park.

The smart facilities include an indoor pool with Jacuzzi, all-weather sports centre, and a spacious bar and restaurant.

As a family park, Crimdon Dene has a good range of daytime activities, kids' clubs and so forth, and in high season, there’s also plenty of evening action in the form of live music and shows (at other times, you’ll find a more toned-down entertainment schedule).

The touring pitches are very well maintained and of a high standard. The toilet/shower block is nipping clean. Gary, whom is the point of contact on the touring site is fantastic, he really goes out his way to ensure your time with him is excellent. he is always there for help and advice, and nothing is too much trouble.
The Showbar and the pool are very well staffed and very clean. I would well recommend this site to all family and friends.

    Disliked:

The only dislike I have is that the kids weren't being supervised by their parents in the play parks and Mugga, this meant there was a lot of foul mouthed children running round to do whatever they wanted.

The staff were amazing, could not fault any of them.

    Disliked:

The terrible language from owner caravans, mainly number 83. There were 22 adults and children in that caravan throughout our weekend. Coming and going until 4am. We were unable to leave our tourer alone as we didn’t trust them being so close to us.
The club was not suitable for children and parents AND children were using bad language. Close to the end of the night there were always security guards running around trying to calm drunk people down.
This was so sad for us as we are not used to this behaviour and my little boy was unable to play out as he would normally do

High curbs around the touring pitches I didn't have too much trouble but the car next to us caught the underside everytime he entered or left.

Local attractions

Ramble or ride along the coastal path to get the best views of the ruggedly dramatic Durham Heritage Coast, or head inland to explore ancient woodlands such as Castle Eden Dene, a 550-acre nature reserve with more than 450 types of flora and 12 miles of footpaths.

In nearby Hartlepool, guests can tour HMS Trincomalee, the oldest warship still afloat in the UK, along with lots of other interesting stuff at the Maritime Experience on the historic quayside.

Other popular attractions include the Tweddle Children’s Animal Farm, which is on the doorstep, or the fascinating living history museum at Beamish, a little further afield.

It’s also well worth a trip to Durham, where you can stroll along the tranquil river banks for stunning views of the ancient cathedral and castle; or to Newcastle, which is crammed with culture and commerce.
