General

  • Tiny site on a working farm
  • Four miles from Woodbridge
  • Wild camping but with some home comforts

At Greenlay Pastures find a little piece of the English countryside and escape for a while. The site is four miles from the beautiful market town of Woodbridge which sits on the River Deben estuary.

The campsite is located on a working farm in the pretty village of Bredfield. The village has a shop selling local produce. There is also a playing field with tennis courts for hire and a children's play area. All are within a few minutes' walk of the campsite.

The farm provides grazing for sheep and cattle. For many years this was a small organic dairy farm which with its pasture and mature hedgerows provided a haven for plants, birds and animals. Traditions of husbandry have been maintained in recent years so that the essence and beauty of the farm remains. This year the owners are pleased to find patches of wild orchids again on the meadow next to the campsite.

There are a toilet and washroom on site and a separate electric shower. The water tap is located outside the washroom. At Greenlay Pastures the experience is more akin to wild camping: turning up and setting up camp in a meadow close to nature and wildlife. If you prefer wild camping but with some home comforts then this could be the place for you.

Peace and quiet. Fire pits. Great if you want a bit of a wild camping feel but with a shower and a proper loo. Good selection of pitches, some open, some in the trees, masses of space between them. Toilet and shower were spotless at all times and we never had to wait. Good phone signal with Three. Lovely place.

    Disliked:

    Nothing.

Peaceful and with very few pitches this is back to basics camping - almost. There are additional perks in August in the form of the blackberries ready to pick and add to the morning bowl of cereal (food metres rather than food miles :-) ) The pitches are large. Bathroom is clean and while we did have to queue sometimes for the one bathroom and single shower it wasn't a big inconvenience. Fiona was welcoming and communications were efficient. Followed the directions and found the place easily. We loved sitting around the camp fire in the evening.
Lots to see and do in the area, we particularly love Orford and visiting Sutton Hoo.

    Disliked:

No recycling facilities that we were aware of.

Amazingly quiet, private meadow to ourself. Woken by birdsong. Absolutely gorgeous.

    Disliked:

Nothing really, I guess a bit of pressure in the shower, but it really didn't bother us that's much.

Pleasant spot - excellent blackberrying on site! 08/08/2017

A very pleasant spot and it's nice that the pitches are large and not all visible from one another. Really nice meadow with blackberries easily at hand. The firepit is a great benefit.

    Fiona was responsive and helpful.

The shower is nice and hot.

For things to do, we highly recommend Rendlesham forest and Aldeburgh on the coast.

    Disliked:

There's several powerlines over the site, and more large pylons visible nearby which detracts from the rural setting. The A12 is clearly audible at night. One toilet and one shower is a bare minimum for the number of pitches. There's a tap, but no easy place to wash up dishes other than in the toilet sink.

Lovely little spot in the back paddock of this property. The owner left us to our own devices but was there if we needed anything (including more firewood). The shower and toilet were always clean :) near to some lovely villages. We really enjoyed staying here! Thankyou :)

    Disliked:

A touch too close to the next pitch when so much space in the paddock.
