Travel just four miles inland from the sunny Suffolk coastline and you’ll arrive at this little gem on the outskirts of Wenhaston. Heathside Caravans is an all-year-round delight, especially seeing as the prices here stay fixed throughout its 365-day opening. So there really is no ‘bad’ time to book yourself into one the deluxe pods on offer. The newly planted hedges and excellently maintained grounds at this smart Suffolk site have been put in place by the site’s friendly, hands-on owners, and attention to detail like this will be sure to make you smile.
With one double and two bunks, a sink, kitchenette, table and chairs and heating, the snug, efficient and wonderfully self-sufficient up-to-the minute pods available at Heathside are little TARDISes that the Doctor himself would be proud of (bet he wishes he’d made time to stay in one too). Open (what looks like) a cupboard door and low and behold, an ensuite awaits - you needn’t ever leave! We highly recommend you do though, if only to check out the well-kept surroundings and refurbished shower block or to stock up on goods from the handy on-site shop and off licence.
See Heathside Caravans and you’ll see greenery - so it’s well worth stepping out from your uber-modern pod to take in the traditional sights on the doorstep. Set in the heart of Suffolk’s finest scenery, this small and pretty site has its own nature trail and lake - so you and the kids can really get up close with nature. Children will be occupied for hours as they take to the play area on site - perfect for tiring them out, just a little, to make the quiet night’s sleep you’ll get here even better. Grown-ups can hop in a buggy for a round of golf at Halesworth Golf Club, where guests of Heathside can also enjoy 10% off.
Acres of land surround the site entwined with footpaths for all abilities, but if rambling isn’t for you, fear not! You can hire bikes from the site to make getting around that much brisker and the flats of Suffolk mean you can venture all the further as you pedal away on your days out. For the really adventurous, horse riding is very popular in the area too. All that fresh air worn you out? The perfect remedy is close by. In fact, three perfect remedies are close by. Local pubs offering ales from the IPA brewery in Bury St Edmunds (just over an hour away) and many more satisfying tipples, are just down the road - including one recommended by the all-knowing, all-powerful Good Pub Guide.
History buffs head to Aldeburgh, Snape, Beccles and Halesworth; animals lovers prowl to Southwold’s African Adventure; thrill-seekers check in at Lowestoft’s Pleasurewood Hills; twitchers flock to Minsmere. After a beach? You’ll be hard to pressed not to find one with the coast just four miles away. Either around the corner or slightly further afield, Heathside is neatly placed in the middle of plenty to see and do which will ensure the dreaded ‘I’m bored’ will never be uttered on a stay here.
