‘Luxury glamping in the heart of Suffolk’ is how the West Stow Pods peeps describe their pads, which sounds just stonking for those who like to combine mod cons with Mother Nature.
The roomy pods are set deep in the wildlife haven-heavy Suffolk woodland a mere five miles from Bury St Edmunds, with walk and cycle paths snaking all around the surrounding scenery and with an array of other activities in the area from canoeing to tennis to fishing (Larkwood Trout Fishery is just down the road).
Each mega pod has outdoor decking and a barbecue area – from which you can supervise the making of dinner while supping a glass of wine – and indoors, a double bed, sofa bed, wetroom with loo and shower, kitchenette with fridge, toaster, microwave and tea-making facilities. For curling up after a long day’s walking and barbecue supervising, the pods also have a flatscreen Freeview telly with DVD player.
Heating and lighting are included in the rate and there are electrical points handy for charging all your gadgets (we do not see why camping should mean leaving behind one’s hairdryer). The pods are designed to be comfy and secure in all weather: sheep wool insulation keeps them warm in winter, a foil layer cools things down in summer, and the double-glazed (and lockable) French doors reduce condensation and, with the specially designed roofing material, cut down any noise from heavy rain.
Remember to bring all the bedding, cooking and other equipment you’d normally take when camping – hairdryers optional, of course.
Please note that there is a minimum of two nights' booking.
