  • Fish in five well-stocked on-site lakes
  • Pitches with lakeside views
  • Modern showers and toilets with good disabled access
Fishing in East Anglia should sound pretty perfect to angling types. Serious fisherfolk seeking a fishing holiday in Norfolk should give serious consideration to Narborough Fisheries, on its own private 16-acre site to the west of the county and with fishing lakes flowing with chalk stream water from the River Nar. Narborough Fisheries has five lakes available to guests: Millers, a specimen carp lake (with a 35-pound fish recorded in 2023); Foresters Well, a well-stocked mixed coarse lake; Ashford, a match/coarse lake stocked with over 9,000 fish; Willow, a catch and keep trout lake; and Meadow, which is stocked with over 70 carp weighing four to 10 pounds. There's also a specimen trout stock pond available for catch and release only (with fish weighing up to 17 pounds). Fishing pitches at Narborough are set along two of the lakes with pretty perfect lakeside views. The modern shower and toilet block, like the rest of the site, is kept to high standards. Narborough Fisheries also has a small tackle shop selling a good range of tackle, bait and fishing accessories, plus hot and cold drinks, ice creams, sweets and other treats. Just remember to bring your Environment Agency rod licence.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: A very warm welcome upon arrival from the lady in the shop. She was very friendly, helpful and informative. Was offered a selection of pitches that were available, choosing pitch 9 that was one of many that were right by the lake. Had a great couple of days fishing in the well stocked lake. Friendly day fishermen arrive at 8am each morning, by which time I was already set up with the rod out :) Was told there was no rush to get off on my last day and to get some extra fishing in if I wanted to (so I did!) Facilities were very clean and tidy. All in all, I cant fault Narborough fisheries and would highly recommend it for those who want a quiet break fishing.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Well maintained grounds and good fishing lakes, with quite large fish and well stocked. Clean toilet and shower units . Good size hard standing pitches and mostly with more than enough grass surrounding. Very friendly and caring staff . Site very peaceful .. just the odd aircraft flying over as close to RAF Marham . Overall, well worth staying if keen on fishing or looking for a very relaxing lazy break away.

Disliked: No dislikes but more water points for motorhomes to fill on board water tank would be advantageous.

Liked: Small quiet site apart from the RAF planes going overhead! Good for trout fishing and coarse fishing. Bus stop walking distance away to get to Kings Lynn and Swafham or Norwich in the other direction. There's a small shop in the village and a Chinese restaurant at the other end of the village. The toilets and shower are always immaculate. Friendly, helpful staff.

Liked: An absolutely brilliant site which we will most definitely return to. It has a lovely relaxing atmosphere with super clean toilet/shower block. My husband enjoyed the fishing so much he did not want to leave. We received a warm welcome from Russell and nothing was too much trouble, Karen is great to chat to and most helpful too so what a great team! There is a shop in walking distance and a Chinese restaurant/takeaway just down the road.

Local attractions

Fishing, fishing, nature reserves, the north Norfolk coastline and watery sports: what a lot of activities there are to catch in this part of East Anglia. King's Lynn about nine miles away has several fisheries owned or managed by the King's Lynn Angling Association to cast off for carp, zander, bream, roach, perch and pike along the Great Ouse and other watery locations; access some via Magdalen Bridge, Ten Mile Bank, Downham Market and Denver Sluice among many others. Away from the rod, take the budget-friendly local bus from Narborough village east to comely Norwich for a day among its Lanes and historic market for shopping, and a look at as many as possible of the Norwich 12, the city's historic buildings, as can possibly be fitted in on a day trip. (If you only have time for a couple, the obvious two are Norman Norwich Castle, which includes the Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery, and Norwich Cathedral with its rather splendid large cloisters.) Going west, pick the cathedral city of Peterborough for another day trip: alongside its 12-century cathedral, potter among the quarter of a million or so exhibits of the Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery, watersports on the lakes at Nene Park, a puff on the Nene Valley Railway between Peterborough Nene Valley and Yarwell Junction, and a night out at the Key Theatre, where shows of all sorts run all year. Also get hooked on the wildlife and sumptuous scenery in the area, with a trip to the nearest nature reserve, the Norfolk Wildlife Trust's chalk grassland of Narborough Railway Line, or a wildlife-spotting float around the Norfolk Broads, easily accessible from Norwich.
