Net yourself a nifty little niche in the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with a trip to The Poplar's Campsite, a quiet family- and dog-friendly option.

The coastal position of this place, about a mile from said waters, certainly is key if you’re after a hol bounding around all the beaches in the area – of which there are many. Some of the most sought-after stretches of sand are at Thornham (five minutes’ drive) and Brancaster (10 minutes), plus a pub is close by on foot (10 minutes’ walk) for pints once you’re done with paddling.

A bus station is a short walk away too should you be touring the area by public transport, perhaps heading to the town of Hunstanton (10 minutes’ drive). When not travelling, lean back next to the campfire on the park’s three acres of land; logs are for sale on site to keep the blaze crackling and wifi’s available too so you can fiddle with your phone outdoors as long as you like.

Not that you’ll be wanting to spend much time on electronic devices during a stay here – the Norfolk coast has oodles to get stuck into, from birdwatching to boating. Forays on foot are also fab: hop it to Holme Dunes (10 minutes) for sandy strolls or saunter around Sandringham’s wooded paths (20 minutes).

Overall this site offered all we needed. I do think it was over-priced for the level of facilities on offer. We were fine - as the site was quiet during our visit and, in fairness, we were advised that it was shutting (due to water logging) after our visit.

Site is in a good location - rural rather than beach side - with many beautiful villages / walks / Hunstanton in easy reach.

It could be lovely - but does need a tidy up and some financial investment in facilities which, although very clean with great showers, were a little strange in their set up (and would be inadequate if site busy I think)

Owners were helpful and we would thank them for a lovely stay and wish them every future success.

Feel this site is overpriced for the facilities offered.
I do think that the showers / toilets / washing-up would be inadequate if the site was any where near full
The pot wash facility is one free standing sink (we didn't need to use it) so I can't comment further)
Whilst there are 4 showers the set up (bit like metal lorry containers) does in-effect mean that only two could be used at any time (unless you are very friendly or liberal) as the drying / changing area is communal.
Very dark (it was October!) near toilets / showers
Site would benefit form a tidy up (old car, old caravan, old static caravan etc) this is aesthetic maybe - but just brings the overall impression down.

Great location, bus stop just outside, beach a short ride away

Disliked:

Facilities need some work, no paving and very wet ground means the showers and toilet were very muddy, because of layout it was almost impossible not to have to tread on muddy floors in bare feet, no benches/chair in there meant you had to put your stuff in it too. Nothing left for you to even clean up/mop after yourself.

I accept it was a grass pitch but the ground was very boggy. One van got completely stuck and we only just got off. If they are going to take bookings in the autumn they need to make sure you can get to your pitch!

No elsan point you just have to empty your toilet tank to a tank in the ground the hole you open up is quite large and it clearly was on the verge of needing emptying when we were there 🤢 no water to clean out.

Liked:	Quiet location not far from beach and nice pub. Lovely being only static on site and next to high quality outside loos and showers. Plenty of room for dog to run around. Sky and DVD player nice extras. Oven had broken down and couldn’t be fixed over weekend, but host v. apologetic and will sort it. Will definitely return (already booked in!).
Disliked:	Only negative was oven not working.

Local attractions

The bird is the word here – avian creatures aplenty flock to the Norfolk coast, including to Holme (five minutes’ drive) and Snettisham (20 minutes). An RSPB reserve full of marshlands, reedbeds and freshwater lagoons that lure in avocets, marsh harriers and pink-footed geese is in Titchwell Marsh (10 minutes) too.

While you're there, plan wanders along the wide beach looking out across The Wash, another protected part of Norfolk, as well. More into watersports than walking? Hunstanton has a variety of pursuits to pick from, including paddleboarding and windsurfing (plus it’s also a prime place for pottering along the red and white cliffs if you haven't had enough of roams). Rainbow Park is round here too for fans of fairgrounds, while its next-door neighbour, the Sea Life Sanctuary, is a must-visit for seeing the seals, penguins and otters.

Fancy activities that are more aristocratic in theme? Check out the queen’s gaff, Sandringham (20 minutes), or mosey to manor homes like Narborough Hall (40 minutes) and the 12th-century Castle Rising ruins (25 minutes).
