General

  • Family holiday park a mile and a half form Great Yarmouth
  • Salon, sauna, Waterworld, sports area and kids' clubs
  • Teenagers' clubs with DJ lessons, pool parties and lots more

Great pip! We’re not sure where to start when listing the many options on offer at Vauxhall Holiday Park in Norfolk’s seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, a relaxed and family-friendly park with top facilities and free five-star entertainment.

Brekkie first, we think: a full English at the Reedcutters Restaurant to start the day off, then a trip to Pinkies Salon or to the sauna for some pampering while the other half sorts the kids out…there are Arty Kidz clubs every afternoon, an under-fives activity club and Louie’s Adventure Playground, plus a soft play area, Highway 66 mini bowling, adventure golf, King Louie’s Goldmine…

Older kids are well catered for too with the Hideout Club for 12-16 year olds offering DJ lessons, jewellery making, pool parties and more.

Once it’s been at least an hour after a meal like your mum told you, time for swimming: Vauxhall Holiday Park has a Tropical Waterworld and Splash Zone with indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides, rapids, kids’ pool and sunbathing terraces to flop onto afterwards.

Or take the crew to the indoor or outdoor sports areas with climbing walls, gym, games room, pool and something called Arabian Camel Racing that we very much want to try.

More food? Why not: alongside the Reedcutters Restaurant which serves up lunch, dinner and snacks as well as breakfast, Vauxhall Holiday Park has takeaway outlets to bag pizza, burgers, kebabs, fried chicken and local shellfish (not all at once), or pick a panini or sarnie while you surf the net on the free wifi at Ted’s Coffee Shop.

For entertainment, there’s cabaret, comedy, live music and shows every day of the week, with evening dancing, competitions, cabaret and shows in the Regency Room, and floor shows for the sophisticated in the over-18s V-Lounge with adjoining conservatory.

And we haven’t even mentioned the essentials yet: pitches at Vauxhall Holiday Park are hardstanding or grass and easily accessed in all weathers via the park’s tarmac roads; all pitches come with electric hookup and include free awnings and free car parking.

The site has heated loo and shower blocks with baby-changing facilities and hairdryers, and there’s also a mini mart, launderette, gift shop and photo shop. If you're arriving late, there are security staff on site all night to welcome you to your pitch.

We came home early cause the tent pitches are too cramped in and we had 4 lots of tents that came together that were very rude playing loud music from their car while getting drunk and letting their 4 children run riot kicking balls at our car and tent it was horrendous so we packed up and came home won't go to this camp again it's a shame cause apart from these horrible people and cramped pitches it was ok

The staff were helpful and worked hard for their money!

    Disliked:

Tents and caravans squashed together. There was not any room for the children to play around our pitch.

We were unfortunate enough to witness a violent outbreak between 2 traveller families yards from our pitch in the early hours in which police were called twice and people carted off in both police cars and ambulances. Although the parks security team and police did a grand job it did however leave my family and I terrified and we cut our holiday short as a result!

Flat, tidy, spacious pitches. Pool complex excellent and well managed. Lifeguards on the ball. Evening entertainment for children excellent and they thoroughly enjoyed it. Anti social behaviour by a particular extended family properly dealt with by the staff and police and offenders removed. Friendly staff.

    Disliked:

Chip shop does not have the expertise to properly fry chips and avoid case hardening. Am ex food industry so found it rather irritating. Told by other family members that restaurant rather pricey. Showers could do with an overhaul. Very limited parking for additional cars.

It was a lovely place, nice and big and could entertain a family for at least a week without getting bored .

    Disliked:

It was a nice place - it could do with better first aid classes as every life guard had a different view on how to stop a blocked nose and had no nurse on site in case of an emergency.

Ok so my partner myself and our 2 year old daughter went for a weekend break from Friday 23 June to Sunday 25th. Upon arrival we had to wait 30 minutes to book into our touring pitch as our booking could not be found despite me showing the confirmation email and that i had paid. Arrived at the pitch which were good sizes, was put right next to a very busy main road and could hear the freight trains too which are very loud. The site does seem quite old and run down, lots of Ants around as if the whole place had Ants nests especially in the Arcade by the motor bikes.
A lot of the machines in the arcade do not work and nearly everything does not accept the new £1 coin. Food and drink prices are through the roof, came too £5.50 per pint of Strawberry cider, ate out everyday apart from Sunday 25th June as my daughter wanted to do breakfast with Louie and even then every piece of cutlery i had was dirty. We order 2 full English, 1 child breakfast and 2 coffees and it came to £22. Swimming pool was good but like i say the whole park and facilities are very old and dated, needs a refurb. The outdoor park was closed. All slides were shut off and the zip wire was taped up to the bar so could not be used. Only other thing is we got given entertainment passes but for the whole weekend we did not get asked once to see them, not in the evening entertainment or when we went swimming so just seemed pointless to carry them around. Also ordered on the Saturday night just 2 regular chips from the chicken shop on site and was literally stood waiting for 30 minutes for just 2 portions of chips.

Local attractions

Gorgeous Great Yarmouth, stretches of sandy beach and access to the Norfolk Broads are all within easy reach of Vauxhall Holiday Park: start off with the Pleasure Beach and racecourse of this seaside town, browse around its market or take the kids to nearby adventure park BeWILDerwood for a bedazzling day out among the zipwires and Crocklebogs.

The theme park Pleasurewood Hills is at nearby Lowestoft, or for a more sedate time take your little monkeys to see the inhabitants at Great Yarmouth’s Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens.

As well as the Broads, Norfolk has loads to see and do whatever floats your boat: classic golf courses, more seaside towns at Cromer and Hunstanton, historical pads like Blickling Hall and the royal residence of Sandringham, and the Nelson Museum and award-winning Time & Tide Museum, both at Great Yarmouth.

For steam fans, there's a pick of four heritage railways to sightsee while sitting, including the 18-mile Bure Valley route through the Broads and the longest heritage railway in East Anglia, the Mid-Norfolk Railway.

Birdwatchers can get their beaks into several RSPB and nature reserves all around: start off at the oldest Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserve in the county, Cley Marshes, then take a trip to the biggest at Hickling Broad.

Fishing more likely to get you hooked? Land pike on the Broads, make for the Fens Drains for bream or pick up some mackerel off the pier at Cromer.

Head south to Suffolk for the seaside town and beach huts of Southwold, the Suffolk Heritage Coast and Anglo-Saxon burial at Sutton Hoo, or into Essex for the historic town of Colchester, Epping Forest and another seaside resort at Southend-on-Sea.
