  • Two parks in one: family-oriented and more quiet sections
  • Indoor and outdoor pools, gym, crazy golf, bar and restaurant
If you can’t decide whether to opt for an idle break or something a bit more lively, then have the best of both at Breydon Water Holiday Park, near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads. It’s essentially two parks in one: the first is Yare Village, for those looking for an active, family-oriented vibe, with its toasty outdoor pool (open from May to September, weather permitting), crazy golf, and a buzzing schedule of sports, kids’ activities and evening entertainment. Just 10 minutes’ walk away is the more sedate Bure Village, where there’s an indoor pool and a fully-equipped gym. The site also has wifi in the Waterside bar and restaurant.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Good clean facility's, great range of entertainment. Easy check-in process.

Disliked: Showers, had to keep one hand on the button constantly. Other guests not respecting 'quiet time', other parks have staff go around at 11pm and tell people to be quiet.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Staff were very friendly and approachable. Site was clean and easy to get around. Activities were good. Really enjoyed the bingo - prizes were amazing. Glad there was an indoor pool as the weather was rather bad and booking a slot avoided the pool being over crowded

Disliked: The touring showers could do with be updated with regards to the flow of the water. It either turned off after 5 seconds or you had to continuously press the button to shower. This made it inconvenient to wash at the same time.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Great facilities on site, great entertainment for the children and adults.

Disliked: Had to wait until 2 pm to pitch up even though there was no one on the pitch. Could have let me get on earlier to get the tent up, wouldn’t have harder anyone.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The toilets, showers and club house are very clean. Some lovely walks straight out of the site.

Disliked: The staff are very rude and told us they wouldn’t help as we had booked on pitch up. Told we could not pitch together as pitch up had not told them about the request and they were fully booked. We then spent 5 days of our 7 day holiday with empty pitches next to us and about a 40% full site. Pitch up have since sent me the confirmation sent to the site with the request shown. The staff told us we should not have booked with pitch up and it was our fault for not using their own system. I was sent an email to book activities and when I looked there was nothing available to book. The staff told us that the static caravans get first option for booking, then people who booked with them and last people who booked with pitch up. So we had no activities available to us for booking. We managed to get into the pool twice by just turning up for a session and then ended up booking a pool at Yarmouth. We booked this site for the pool and it turned out to be a waste of time. Also the indoor pool is not close and you have to cross a road with people speeding up and down it. The on site shop is awful so don’t waste your time with it. We had some rain and at times it was heavy but I wouldn’t say it was too bad. However 90% of the pitches flooded and had standing water on them for days. Most people in tents gave up and went home. Also the pitches are mainly mud and you can see this if you look on the google satellite maps. The site itself is like two completely different sites (static and touring). The static site is lovely, with proper roads, parking, green grass, no mud, lovely trees and hedges. The touring site is like an apocalyptic land in comparison. The roads are mud with massive potholes and so much standing water you might as well use them as a pool. The pitches are uneven, bumpy, muddy and have a tendency to flood. Also the power is limited to 10A. You are treated like you are not wanted there in a tourer. So much so they have a sign as you leave the pitches to get you to sell your caravan and buy a static. We use pitch up for 90% of our holidays and they are normally amazing. But this is one to avoid as the site just doesn’t want you there. We tried being reasonable with the staff, offered to pay to be pitched next to each other and still got nowhere. I really do feel that the staff completely ruined our holiday with our friends and families. It actually felt vindictive to see an empty site for most of our holiday and not be able to be next to our friends. Also it is worth noting that we looked at the reviews before we booked. We noticed that some were like us and some were saying how good it is. We found very little form the positive reviews to be true and have been questioning how true they are. On a final note we tried and tried to find a way to resolve what happened. At the very least find away to stop it happening to others. All that we got was the site blaming pitch up and pitch up blaming the site. No one wants to take any responsibility and pitch up takes over a week to get a reply.

Liked: Very nice. Staff very helpful and friendly. Clean and tidy.

Disliked: On way to site we had to pass by a single lane rd. Barely managed to get caravan through No warning till you was on top of it. This could be mentioned when booking to take alternative root. Shop was on other site. To far to walk. Could do with a basic shop on site. Toilets although cleaned regularly they could benefit from some Toilet brushes so you can at least try to keep clean. Also could benefit with a shower mop to dry floor after shower.

Local attractions

Great Yarmouth, a short drive away, has masses of attractions – too many to list here, but to give you an idea: the Sea Life aquarium, the exhilarating indoor circuit at Karting 2000, mini choo-choos and tiny townsfolk at Merrivale Model Village and Gardens, and the Elizabethan House Museum, where visitors can don Tudor fashions and find out what life was really like below stairs for Victorian scullery maids. There are more than 50 acres of adrenaline rides, plus parrot and sea lion shows and an Alpine chair lift at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft. For those seeking more genteel pursuits, also near Lowestoft is Somerleyton Hall, a Tudor-Jacobean pile with pleasure gardens and a maze, home to the Crossley Carpets dynasty. Drive a little further and you can explore the wetlands and waterways of the Norfolk Broads, or head south to gorgeous Southwold and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
