  • Two parks in one: family-oriented and more quiet sections
  • Indoor and outdoor pools, gym, crazy golf, bar and restaurant
If you can’t decide whether to opt for an idle break or something a bit more lively, then have the best of both at Breydon Water Holiday Park, near Great Yarmouth and the Norfolk Broads. It’s essentially two parks in one: the first is Yare Village, for those looking for an active, family-oriented vibe, with its toasty outdoor pool (open from May to September, weather permitting), crazy golf, and a buzzing schedule of sports, kids’ activities and evening entertainment. Just 10 minutes’ walk away is the more sedate Bure Village, where there’s an indoor pool and a fully-equipped gym. The site also has wifi in the Waterside bar and restaurant.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Access to lovely walks Peaceful Cleanliness of the site

Disliked: The showers, probably the worst we've ever experienced. We're all for saving water but a shower that turns off the second you let go of the push button is ridiculous Cost of WiFi

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The pitch was a good size and the site is well laid out. The food was of very good quality with good portions. The site itself is in need of a bit of T.L.C. The facilities were very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Loved the site and facilities. Entertainment was brilliant, site was clean, and had everything we needed.

Disliked: Didn’t like the receptionist Rachael who was rude and tried to tell us we hadn’t made special requests to be next to our friends, even though we showed our special requests on booking form. Tried to charge us £10 for requested pitch. Eventually ‘waved’ the charge. Little bumpy on the road with a caravan.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Nice, welcoming, friendy, helpful staff on arrival. Washroom/shower facilities warm and clean. Decent size pitches. Enough for the Children to do with play equipment, AstroTurf football pitch, amusements and pool table. Close enough to the river to enjoy a walk.

Disliked: Road/track around the touring pitches very uneven with large, deep pot holes. Pitch was soft mud rather than grass.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The abolitions were dirty and seemed to only be cleaned once a day by one man. Surrounding the bins was smashed up pumpkins and rubbish strewn across the park which to be honest were removed once I complained. Broken glass was all over the road near the bins which wasn’t moved despite complaining which for a dog and kid friendly park was concerning. The entertainment for the children was ok but the adult entertainment was dated and the songs were old (1940s -60s).

Local attractions

Great Yarmouth, a short drive away, has masses of attractions – too many to list here, but to give you an idea: the Sea Life aquarium, the exhilarating indoor circuit at Karting 2000, mini choo-choos and tiny townsfolk at Merrivale Model Village and Gardens, and the Elizabethan House Museum, where visitors can don Tudor fashions and find out what life was really like below stairs for Victorian scullery maids. There are more than 50 acres of adrenaline rides, plus parrot and sea lion shows and an Alpine chair lift at Pleasurewood Hills in Lowestoft. For those seeking more genteel pursuits, also near Lowestoft is Somerleyton Hall, a Tudor-Jacobean pile with pleasure gardens and a maze, home to the Crossley Carpets dynasty. Drive a little further and you can explore the wetlands and waterways of the Norfolk Broads, or head south to gorgeous Southwold and Aldeburgh in Suffolk.
