General

  • Award-winning, peaceful and rural site
  • Camping meadow and main building both wheelchair accessible
  • Licensed shop, restaurant and bar

The Old Brick Kilns is a peaceful, award-winning and rural site, mostly sheltered, and divided into woody pockets and open areas. It has a wildlife pond, landscaped garden areas and natural wildflower bankings.

The camping meadow has grass pitches and is accessible by car and a gently sloping walkway, suitable for wheelchairs, directly opposite the restaurant. An adults-only field is also available, along with wifi on all pitches and a token operated laundry system: please ask for tokens at reception.

The reception desk, shop and first aid post are in the main building, on the left as you drive in. There's access into all areas of the main building for wheelchairs along firm pathways. In a separate wooden building next to reception you'll ind a large map of the area along with a wealth of information on local attractions and places to visit as well as a selection of books and DVDs to rent.

The shop, which has an off-licence, supplies most basic foodstuffs, toiletries, homemade produce and fresh bread; hot croissants and papers can be ordered in the afternoon, to be collected at reception the following morning. It also stocks sweets, drinks, ice cream, gas, caravan accessories, maps, stamps and local crafts. The restaurant and bar area is generally open on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from mid-March to the end of September, so please ask for specific times when you book your stay or when you arrive on site.

There's lots more around for those who need a little additional entertainment, including fishing, a fenced children’s play area with chipped bark, table tennis, a pool table, and a games/TV room.

We've just got back into caravanning, we had a caravan when our boys were small, ...intending to take our grandchildren now on some more adventures!

Easter was our first trip out as 'born again caravaners', weather couldn't have been more appalling, didnt stop us having a ball though! Old Brick Kilns was definitely the place to be. Great walks, Excellent amenities: large pitches, landscaping, shop, bar, restaurant, lake, even music on tap in the lovely shower blocks. The fantastic team were brilliant, always happy to help with a genuine smile even through torrential rain!

We'll definitely be coming back. Thank you.

Quiet site, poor tent pitches and walkway to facilities 01/04/2018

Quiet site, nice restaurant/bar and friendly staff.

    Disliked:

The tent field was water logged, really boggy with cars/ caravans going in and out, the walk way to the toilets was slippery with the mud. Whilst the weather can’t be helped some stones or a hard walkway would have helped. Poor shower facilities didn’t help🙁 it’s geared up for caravans/ motor homes.

From the manager...

Hi Alison

We're sorry that the tent field was wet. Having had the wettest March for 30 years and torrential rain over the Easter weekend, I'm afraid that it wasn't great for any of us! We did our very best to help people where we could but as you say, there's not much we can do about the weather. We have just heard that our customers votes last year have resulted in us being awarded the 2nd best site in the UK and the best in our region in the Top 100 Sites 2018 poll. We're sorry the conditions were far from ideal for your stay but hope that you'll perhaps choose to visit us again another time. Best regards from the team at the Old Brick Kilns.

The dates showed that the bar and restaurant would be open ... but they never opened all weekend... out pitch was on a slope and Uneven.....it was surpose to be hard standing but it was soft under the gravel maybe due to all the bad weather we have had ....the narrow road to the site is a little tight but no problem with care ... over all I would rate this site a 3 star not 5 ...people who rate it 5 can’t have been to many good sites I’m afraid... over all not bad but not for us .

From the manager...

Hi

We're sorry that you weren't entirely happy with your stay with us. Unfortunately, as we have had the wettest March for 30 years, the ground was much softer than usual which is unfortunate. With regards to our Barney's Restaurant & Bar being open, our website does state that "Through the main season (mid March to end of September), it will generally open on Wed/Fri/Sat & Sunday evenings from 6pm – 10pm (last food orders taken at 8.30pm), so please ask when you arrive on site for your holiday." Out of high season, this is governed by the numbers on site and the weekend you were with us it was very quiet as it was mid-March and we had only been open for a week. We've just been voted the 2nd best site in the UK and best in our region in the Practical Caravan Top 100 Sites 2018 - we're proud of our park and work very hard to try and ensure that everyone enjoys their time with us. Best regards from the Old Brick Kilns team.
