General

  • Traditional family site near Dereham, in meadows around a working farm
  • Wildlife haven with woodland and plenty of space, away from main roads
  • Heated shower and toilet block, launderette and hairdryers

Your fledglings should love this farm site – and those in charge of the flock are very likely to agree. Park Farm Camping near Dereham in Norfolk is simple, affordable and no-frills… but doesn’t skimp on the amenities either: the heated shower and toilet block even has free hairdryers in the ladies for those of you who like to keep barnets shipshape at all times.

The site is managed by Julie and Derek, who run the place as a traditional and safe site for small fry and their tribes: it’s in meadows around a working farm, with wildlife all around and farm animals to see in the next field. There’s heaps of space even in the height of summer for all the herd (including the dog) to run around, as well as a wood to explore and a small play area to swing around – with everything secluded away from main roads for chicks to be safely free range. All this, and campfires are allowed too.

Other creature comforts at Park Farm include a launderette, free wifi, public phone and a shop to pick up essentials. Off site, a pub, deli, village shop, bakery, post office, grocer and butcher are all in Swanton Morley a couple of minutes’ drive away.

Grass very long (but was very wet) and alot of pot holes splashing mud everywhere. Giddy puppy on a very long lead next to office/toilets jumping up with muddy feet!!!

From the manager...

thank you for your review agreed grass is very long but sodden ground means we cannot use our grass cutting machines. The driveway with all the holes etc are the bain of our life with heavy vehicles and tractors using it daily every repair task is undone within in a few hours and days. The on site road holes are due for repair this week as long as the rains hold off, So sorry about "Thor" the stupid puppy who thinks that everybody want's to be his friend. We have shortened the running lead now so he cannot get to people if they don't want to meet him sorry for the bad experience you had on your stay.

Very uneven roads leading in and no street lighting at all.
Was asked at 7.10pm to turn music down (it was very quiet anyway) so they really do not like any noise

From the manager...

thank you for your review 8/10 sorry we had to ask you to turn your music down this after a complaint from the caravan next door also affected by this was the static caravan in the corner who also was asked to turn down the music . I did actually tell the complainant that at 7.15 at night to be complaining of low level noise was not very acceptable when noise curfew is 11pm. In the location we are street lighting is not possible and very many campers love the darkness for stargazing and the drive way I agree is a nightmare with tractors and heavy vehicles ripping up all repairs within days.

The friendly atmosphere, the spaciousness of the site, the heated toilet / shower block. The location is great for exploring most of Norfolk. Great value for money.

    Disliked:

The shower heads need descaling or replacing as they spray water everywhere. The recycling facilities could be better as I could not find anywhere to recycle glass. People seemed confused as to what bins to use for what. Please note these are only minor issues and the positives massively outweigh these.

well what can we say to this very tainted review, Quite where the rubbish needs clearing we are not sure, also others that stayed on site at the same time have come back with 8/10 -10/10 reviews , Yes we know the grass is long but with the amount of rain that we have the ground is sodden and cutting equipment cannot be used,

Local attractions

Use Park Farm Camping as a base to explore north Norfolk and Norwich, or stay close to home and explore the paths and lanes for walking and pedalling around the Wensum Valley: leaflets and brochures on acres’ worth of visitor attractions are at the Park Farm reception.

The River Wensum is on the edge of the farm estate with free fishing for Park Farm Camping guests on the two miles where the river flows through nearby Castle Farm (not available during season from 16 March-16 June), or cast off at the Norfolk coast about half an hour away to try your luck at landing mackerel, bass and cod.

You could pick a beach or seaside town to drive to every day of your holiday at Park Farm: seal-spotting boat trips from Morston and Blakeney as well as swishing around somewhat swanky Wells-next-the-Sea and Burnham Market (aka Chelsea-on-Sea) are all within 40 minutes' drive. Within 50, make for the Pleasure Beach (and racecourse) at Great Yarmouth or the crabbing, funfair and zoo at Cromer, both top picks to seaside antics.

Other eclectic options within accessible reach of Park Farm Camping include padding around Liz II’s pad at royal Sandringham and other old houses like Holkham Hall: both are around 45 minutes away. Norwich is 25 minutes from the site.
