General

  • Traditional family site near Dereham, in meadows around a working farm
  • Wildlife haven with woodland and plenty of space, away from main roads
  • Heated shower and toilet block, launderette and hairdryers

Your fledglings will love this farm site – and those in charge of the flock are very likely to agree. Park Farm Camping near Dereham in Norfolk is simple, affordable and no-frills... but doesn’t skimp on the amenities either: the heated shower and toilet block even has free hairdryers in the ladies for those of you who like to keep barnets shipshape at all times.

Owners Julie and Derek have set up Park Farm as a traditional and safe site for small fry and their tribes: it’s in meadows around a working farm, with wildlife all around and farm animals to see in the next field. There’s heaps of space even in the height of summer for all the herd (including the dog) to run around, \as well as a wood to explore and a small play area to swing around – with everything secluded away from main roads for chicks to be safely free range. All this, and campfires are allowed too.

Other creature comforts at Park Farm include a launderette, free wifi, public phone and a shop to pick up essentials. Off site, a pub, deli, village shop, bakery, post office, grocer’s and butcher’s in Swanton Morley a couple of minutes’ drive away.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Single-sex bookings of 6 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Bookings must not be for more than 14 consecutive nights.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/06 and 31/08 (subject to weather conditions).

This is a lovely, quiet site with really helpful staff. The tent was very well-equipped and clean. The beds were comfy and we all slept really well. We loved the option to hire a fire pit and had great fun cooking on it, followed by a relaxing evening sitting around it chatting. The shop on site has all of the essentials at a very reasonable price. The toilets and showers were spotlessly clean, never ran out of toilet roll and we never had to queue. This was out first camping experience and we are definitely camping converts. We will be back!

    Disliked:

Nothing - we had a perfect break!

Friendly atmosphere and welcome and very well laid out pitches.

    Disliked:

Over 100 people on the site and only 1 toilet block with 2 showers and 3 toilets. Showers had poor if any pressure and water was cold.

From the manager...

obviously you did not see the other toilet block with 3 more toilets and 2 large showers, Water pressure and temperature drop is caused by campers washing up and leaving taps running all the time. but as you won't be coming again you will not notice any difference to this winters improvements

Play park for kids, clean facilities, small, well organised site.

    Disliked:

Lack of water pressure in showers.

From the manager...

Thank you for your kind review, sorry about low water pressure this is caused mainly by people washing up and leaving the taps running which drains the whole system. Moves are in place to stop this problem for all time. Look forward to seeing you again

Local attractions

Use Park Farm Camping as a base to explore north Norfolk and Norwich, or stay close to home and explore the paths and lanes for walking and pedalling around the Wensum Valley: leaflets and brochures on acres’ worth of visitor attractions at the Park Farm reception.

The River Wensum is on the edge of the farm estate with free fishing for Park Farm Camping guests on the two miles where the river flows through nearby Castle Farm (not available during season from 16 March – 16 June), or cast off at the Norfolk coast about half an hour away to try your luck at landing mackerel, bass and cod.

You could pick a beach or seaside town to drive to every day of your holiday at Park Farm: seal spotting boat trips from Morston and Blakeney as well as swishing around somewhat swanky Wells-next-the-Sea and Burnham Market, aka Chelsea-on-Sea are all within 40 minutes' drive. Within 50, make for the Pleasure Beach (and racecourse) at Great Yarmouth or the crabbing, funfair and zoo at Cromer, both top picks to seaside antics.

Other eclectic options within accessible reach of Park Farm Camping include padding around Liz II’s pad at royal Sandringham and other old houses like Holkham Hall: both are around 45 minutes away. Norwich is 25 minutes from the site.
