General

  • Quiet remote farm with spectacular views of the Malvern Hills
  • Fishing, quad biking, horse riding and Worcester all within 15 minutes
  • Toilets, showers, charging facilities and a play area

Countryside stays and city days… and all on a remote, roomy and rural Worcestershire farm with spectacular scenery and many walks all around.

And fishing, reindeer and alpacas: it's a ten-minute scenic countryside stroll from here to Cob House Fisheries. And might you also fancy some quad biking? A centre is a two-minute drive away for adrenaline-fuelled days among countryside terrain and woodland with plenty of stopoff points for picnics.

All this is at 350-acre Woodhall Farm, a quiet and family-run site with first-rate views of the splendid Malvern Hills and on a rambling route past the National Trust's Wichenford Dovecote. Although this is a peaceful and remote place, there's plenty to do in the surrounds: as well as the walks, fishing, reindeer visits and quad biking, the city centre of Worcester is a 10-minute drive away, and horse riding, motorbike shows and classic car showcasing can all be had within 10 to 15 minutes.

Amenities include a shower, toilet block and a washing-up area available to all guests. A play area is also on site.

And finally – another nifty fact about the Woodhall Farm setting? Several local pubs are in the vicinity for pints and meals after a day's pottering about.

Really nice tent and campsite with great views, good location for going on walks easy access to shops, plenty to do if raining as there are things like a pool table and air hockey, everything for a kitchen but an oven, but there are barbecues provided with each tent that includes a bag of charcoal enough for one meal, fridges provided, there are some plugs sockets in the communal area for charging phones, fire pits provided for all tents as well as a large communal campfire with large logs for sitting on, a large bag of logs is provided

    Disliked:

Not clear where to go upon arrival, however after a minute of looking a member of staff came over and told us which rent was ours. Large logs are provided and for sale for campfire but not kindling, no wifi

This was a small friendly site with just enough amenities to keep us comfortable, without loosing the feel of authentic old fashioned camping. We ate our breakfast each morning looking over the wheat fields and finished the evening listening to nearby owls. The toilets and showers were clean and homely, and there was a huge barn to shelter in if it rained, where there were a variety of games on offer. The Malverns are very near and definitely worth a visit, and there were various walks around the nearby villages.
The camping pitches were well kept and the ground was flat, which made it an easy stay. This is a great site for friends who want to meet up, for celebrations, for those new to camping and also for the old hands like us. Really lovely stay.

So much. The site itself was beautiful, surrounded by fields of wheat and rape seed ( the latter was harvested during our stay but is meant to look lovely during the April/May season). The location was fantastic for us as we are avid birders. They had yellowhammers, red-legged partridges, ravens, wagtails, kestrels, swallows and whilst lying awake in the tent we could hear tawny owls, foxes and (I think) a barn owl. And this is only what we saw during a fairly brief period. On site there was plenty space to walk around to enjoy the scenery and only a short walk down the road was the Cob House which had a lovely cafe and animals to feed such as reindeer, alpacas, chickens, pigs and goats.

The on-site facilities were clean and frequently stocked and the toilets and showers were clean which is always good. There is also a huge central barn with kettles , fridges and a microwave and games like air hockey and ping pong. Outside the tipis and bell and viking tents there were also a BBQ (with coal and matches) and fire pit for each pitch as well as a large communal fire.

The bell tent itself was so cosy and way bigger than we expected and even came with a chess board that got some real use! The rented bedding and everything else was clean and comfy. Glamping indeed!

The family who owned the site were always really friendly and available if we had any queries and really went out of their way to make you feel valued.

This was easily one of the nicest camping experiences I've had (it was my wife's first and she loved it) and if we find ourselves looking for accommodation in the Worcester area again we wouldn't hesitate to go to Woodhall Farm.

    Disliked:

On one of the nights there was quite a loud group of people in the tent pitch field who were noisy quite late into the night but when we told the staff there they were sympathetic and said they would ask the remaining campers to reduce the noise. The following night was far more peaceful.

The pitching area was laid out well and an added bonus were the fire pits with wood provided. The area was very picturesque and peaceful. The facilities provided in the barn.....fridges, freezers, kettles microwaves and games, brilliant idea and well received by families in bad weather.

    Disliked:

The shower and toilet facilities although adequate could be improved and I imagine would be inadequate at busy times. Compared to other sites I've stayed at they seemed makeshift and substandard. There was some traffic noise.

Directions

Heading from the centre of Worcester on the B4204 the farm is located on the left, a mile past the Bell Inn. As you approach the destination, look out for a row of telephone poles lining the road on the lefthand side and turn down the driveway between two hedgerows at the last telephone pole where the 'Woodhall Farm' sign is.

Local attractions

Worcestershire walks are easy to access from here, as the farm is on the popular flat and circular walk through the countryside past the National Trust's Wichenford Dovecote and – hurrah – the Mason's Arms village pub.

Two long-distance paths run through the Malvern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Site of Special Scientific Interest: the 31-mile Worcestershire Way from Bewdley to Great Malvern and the 109-mile Geopark Way from Bridgnorth to Gloucester.

Also getting active around the area, a pony centre where kids can have an introduction to riding is within a 15-minute drive. Within ten minutes, the oldest operational motorsports venue in the world, Shelsley Walsh, has regular classic car events, speed hill climbs and motorbike events.

And then it's time for a day or so in Worcester… Set about five miles from the farm, Worcestershire's county town is worth a wander for its tenth-century cathedral alone, with its medieval cloisters, nineteenth-century stained glass, 300 library manuscripts and one of the few surviving copies of the Magna Carta signed by King John.
