  • Small family-run working farm a mile from Upton Upon Severn
  • Countryside base a couple of miles from the M5
  • Semi-wild camping with toilet, electric shower and chemical disposal
You'll blossom among the simple pitches at the relaxed and friendly vibe at Bluebell Farm, an Upton Upon Severn site a mile from the village and seven from Worcester. This is a small and family-run working farm set a couple of miles from the M5, so it's just the ticket for stopovers as well as being a fine base from which to explore the Malvern Hills. This is a semi-wild site so it's got just the essential facilities in the form of a portacabin with a toilet and an electric shower, plus chemical disposal and a washing-up area. The farm is a mile from the village of Upton Upon Severn, a small village in the Malvern Hills with restaurants, shops and scenic walks all around.

Local attractions

Follow an hour or two among the shops and old buildings on Upton Upon Severn with a pub or restaurant lunch before a further wander along the river and the surrounding village meadows. There are also boat rides at different times to Tewkesbury in Worcester: once there take a look at the town's medieval streets and 12th-century Tewkesbury Abbey (rather fab). National Trust properties, Capability Brown gardens and historic houses are plentiful in the region too, like Croome Park, Worcester Cathedral and the Great Malvern Priory. For walks and bike rides, take to the Malvern Hills as well as the many lanes and cycle routes locally, while if you fancy a showy activity or an event, the Three Counties Showground runs stuff regularly throughout the year.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Liked: Location! The little dogs, the horses next to us, and the lady (owner) that met us on arrival was lovely. Liked that we could pick where we pitched too.

Disliked: Showers (x2) toilets (x4) The extremely uneven ground. One sink to wash pots, no hot water so have to boil a kettle when washing up, tiny little area. What we paid for 3nights, was over priced for the facilities we got in my opinion. Plus you’ve got to pay an extra £3 per shower.

From the manager: If you read about the site before you booked you would have known the field is ridge and farrow , the site is classed as semi wild camping , Two year ago , i spent £5,500 on a second portacabin kitting it out with new shower unit and screening painting all out , within three month someone had broken the shower , which was replaced , then someone broke the screening , ,this year someone left the shower on hot all-night hence that is what happened to the ceiling which i have been waiting to dry out ,basin has got cracked , loo roll holder gone ,after spending all this money ,never getting paid for hardly any showers ,you do wander if i replace things , paint , will people have more respect of people property

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Location Other campers

Disliked: We will not be retuning to or recommending camping at Bluebell farm . All conversations with the Grandmother who was main point of contact for campers can only be described as deliberately oppositional. Simple polite enquiries from us were bluntly answered . The toilet and shower facilities were woefully inadequate and an additional charge of £3.00 per person per shower a delusional request . The location was amazing and the field a beautiful and peaceful place . The price charged for the pitch was very good value . A better attitude which reflects the general expectation of basic customer care in 2022 is required at which point this could be a great campsite .

From the manager: It has been decided to close the site , as only the miserable people this year seem to write reviews ,this is semi wild camping obviously cannot read about the site before they use it , perhaps they cannot read , i don't know ,never say anything to your face take toilet rolls , not pay for showers , ,leave gates open , ask to return their cars to the hard standing ignoring safety measures i could go on and on , why do some people come time and time again if things are so bad as for put the grandmother what do you mean, that is being personal

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked: The field was perfectly located to try out our new van. It’s a small field and we were lucky to share the field with some lovely campers.

Disliked: Upon arrival we felt like an inconvenience and we’re not made to feel welcome. We did interrupt the families dinner and we’re advised there were no electric pitches available, despite being allowed to book one two hours before arrival. We were asked to wait for her to finish sorting out the horses. Her arrived 20 minuets later, she was much more friendly than the old guy and we were shown to an electric hook up. I guess he was just hangry or having a bad day! The facilities are basic, and showers are chargeable at £3.00.

From the manager: I am sorry about what happened , i came as quickly as possible , just did not want horses running about loose with dogs chasing them ,so i did that first as it was the safe thing to do ,,the field is five acres ,the place is as described semi wild camping ,the photo you provide show how everything is bone dry , no proper rain for weeks ., showers are £3 they are not slot machine ,you can have a good shower ,we do have to pay for electric, water, ,drainage collection , cleaning and maintenance This is why ,the week end you stayed i collected £6 ,So this meant only two people should have showered over the week end , my water meter says different

Ok in a pinch, but improvements much needed

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Very affordable option to stay in the area, and has the potential to be a nice site. The field was mostly flat. There were some delightful horses in the next field. Soap provided to do the washing up.

Disliked: Toilet and kitchen block in serious need of a clean- a mother spider had babies in the shower that dropped on you whilst showering. The toilet block was also damaged so soil came into the block. This would be mostly rectified by a simple, thorough cleaning. It was not permitted to park your car next to your tent after setting up your pitch, inconvenient and unclear why. Quite close to the main road and the M5, so some background noise. Mostly the cleanliness of the amenities was the biggest drawback.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: As for cleaning ,the cleaner and i must spend 1 hour per day cleaning them ,the things that go on are unbelievable throwing the toilet holders through the windows ,dirt and mud bought in , toilet roll just disappear last week end we used 20 ,in two day and only found 6 carboard middles , as for spiders ,we do cobweb but back they come ,as for spider having babies in the shower ,i would read a book on spiders then you might understand them , cleaner wanted to know if you found any frogs in the toilets ? ,as you are shown into the field you are told to unpack and put your car on the hard standing returning when you are ready to leave ,this is for safety. people have barbeques only a spark has to fly everything is so dry a fire could start and you have a car near it with a tank of petrol , surely you know what would happen the m5 is 3 miles away with a southerly breeze blowing it further away back ground noise was A 38 as of traffic lights Please note you are semi wild camping on a farm ,if you had googled it ,and read about the place , you would have found you were booking the wrong site

From the manager: Perhaps if you had read the description of the site ,you would not have booked, you say we are not child friendly , i cannot understand how you can say that as you did not bring any children , and that week-end there were no children on site
