  • Set in spectacular surroundings in the Teme valley
  • Wake up to a 'must be heard to be believed' dawn chorus
  • Abundance of wildlife: birds, butterflies, foxes, badgers and deer
There are quite a few unique factors about a stay at Hidden Valley in the Worcestershire countryside: the owners are keen campers themselves so know of what they speak. First up is the space: cramming pitch upon pitch into a field is very much frowned upon at this small family-run place, so you'll find the accommodation options scattered secludedly around a wild and ancient nine-acre orchard: no clubhouses, no caravans and no close neighbours here… Second, the stargazing… this site is under the enormous Teme Valley sky, where you'll be able a to spot galaxies rather than a cluster of mere stars; you could lie back under the sky here and imagine you're anywhere on the planet. And third, the dawn chorus. The thousands of birds here will be chirping in greeting as soon as the sun starts to seep through your tent canvas… the owners say it has to be heard to be believed, and you'll likely reckon they're right. Hidden Valley has a shower, composting toilets, urinals and a washing-up area. Barbecues and campfires are both allowed; for drinks, the local pub is within walking distance.

Nearly Wild non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Fantastyczne miejsce na rodzinny camping. 2 duże pola campingowe. Dużo przestrzeni dla dzieci. Gospodarze bardzo pracowici, uprzejmi, nie czepiali się, że było za głośno. Polecam to miejsce.

From the manager: Hi Beata, Thanks for the review. We're glad you had a great time and that you would recommend us. In your google review you also mentioned 'perfect' more than once - so we are a little surprised and disappointed with the low score out of 10 - the lowest we have ever received? We're keen to know (as you have made no mention of any problems, faults or dislikes), what more could we have done or what can we improve upon to have gained and 8, 9 or even 10/10? We appreciate your feedback.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful views, really quiet, kids able to run about and burn off steam. Loads of nature to explore. Owners lovely, really welcoming and friendly. Facilities kept pretty much spotless. Honesty shop well-stocked and a real bonus.

Disliked: Our 5 year old took a few days to get used to the composting toilet.

From the manager: Thank you for the review. It is great to see the children enjoying the (car-free) freedom and safety of our little site. We take pride in our composting toilets and as a camper myself have experienced some right shockers on other sites over the years, I believe that ours are some of the best, and we like to make sure they are clean and inviting. I overheard your little girl talking about the colour of the composting bin one of the days - I had removed the full red bin and replaced with a clean black one.. she wanted the red bin back! Apologies if this meant she took longer to get used to it again.. We hope to see you all again next year. :)

Nearly Wild non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Lovely tranquil site with lots of space to find a pitch in the lower section (the wild side). There were few enough tents that it almost felt like you were camping on your own. The wooded areas were great for the children to explore and investigate. The facilities were just what was needed and clean.

From the manager: Thanks for the review. The 'wild-ish side' is so beautiful, and my favourite part of the site - I even camp down there myself sometimes.

Nearly Wild non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Everything about this place! If I could give a 10 star review I could. We firstly turned up and quickly remembered we had left our tent poles at home 2 hours away. Simon jumped to the rescue and so kindly lent us a tent that he had for the weekend so we had somewhere to sleep. We had the whole wild camping pitch to ourselves where the views were breath taking. It really felt like we were actually wild camping as you couldn’t see another person, another light or anything. We went on a walk out of the back of the site where we found a river you could swim in. Shower was lovely and warm and clean and the facilities were great. There is even an honestly shop where you can purchase essentials which was helpful when we ran out of wood! And they even have wheelbarrows to use to cart your stuff around everywhere. We will definitely be visiting again! Thank you for the lovely stay

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Hidden Valley truly lives up to its name. It is a real gem. The pitches are reasonably flat with a great view wherever you are across the site. The colourful flags and bunting, the colourful wheel barrows, recycling buckets plus the honesty shop all add a welcoming feel. The composting toilets are clean and well positioned on the site and although there is only one shower it is warm, clean and there was never a queue for it. The horses in the field behind us, the variety of bird song and the nearby sheep all added to the stay. There is plenty of exploring to be done on the site itself and fruit to be foraged. We enjoyed a camp fire both nights using logs from the store. We had a short drive out on the Saturday to Kyre Park which was lovely and the coffee shop/antique shop worth a mooch. Will definitely be back - perhaps next time in one of the bell tents...

Disliked: Only one shower. Could have quite a walk from the car to the pitch. The wheel barrows however were very handy and you could have a lift from the quad bike and trailer if it was free...

Nearly Wild non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful secluded area surrounded by wildlife to keep you entertained on the evening when they become very vocal! (Owls, foxes, muntjacs, sheep and more). Owners offer a quad bike lift for your luggage to and from your tent for a small charge which was an absolute blessing because the tent pitch where we stayed was down a steep hill and I’m not into my fitness very much! Also have a honesty box shop that supplies butane, coffee, milk, soups ect along with a compost toilet.

The pretty riverside town of Tenbury Wells (10 minutes' drive) is an excellent place to start exploring. Head here to browse a range of independent shops or to make use of the town's well-maintained public swimming pool. The events and many activities of Wyre Forest are about 15 minutes' drive from base, where adventurers will find walking, cycling and mountain biking trails, horse riding, adventure play and a Go Ape. Miles of additional walks are at the 123 acres of old woodland at Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Local Nature Reserve. If you want to hunt down some heritage, the National Trust properties of Brockhampton, Berrington Hall and Croft Castle are within about 20 minutes. English Heritage's Witley Court is also easy to get to and tells the tale of the Gatsbyesque parties once held there. Ten minutes' drive away is the motoring venue Shelsley Walsh, which has been hosting MAC Speed Hill Climbs since 1905.
