General

  • Luxury glamping in a spectacular setting near ancient Wyre Forest
  • On 130 acres of farmland to explore; livery often available
  • Fully-equipped units with kitchen, stoves, books, barbecue and firepit

There are reasons why guests have been going into rhapsodies about the attention to detail and the accommodation at Silligrove Farm Yurts between Bewdley and Cleobury Mortimer – and the reasons they are many. Run by friendly and welcoming Jan and David, this small farm site has luxury units set up in a woodland location, all set far enough from each other to give all guests peace and privacy.

And when the owners here say the glamping here is luxury, they mean it… each unit is equipped with everything you'd need to stay for weeks, from full kitchen kit, crockery and gas stoves, to board games, books and jigsaw puzzles – all in a space cutely kitted out with colourful furniture, rugs and candles. Each also has a barbecue, coolbox, plenty of chairs, sun loungers, a picnic table and a firepit.

Communal facilities include a barn with fridge-freezer, microwave and kettle, as well as table tennis and a pool table; there's also a full size tennis court for guests to use and racquets hire available.

All is set on 130 acres of Worcestershire farmland which glampers are welcome to tramp and explore, along with the many bridle paths in the vicinity: the 15th-century farmstead with tennis court on site also has a livery yard where you can stable your own horse. A coarse fishery is just across the road from the farm.

And finally, the food… If you decide you don't want a barbecue or some campfire cooking, several places to eat are easily accessible locally, including a Chinese thoroughly recommended by David and Jan, and a pub specialising in hot and tasty pies.

Fantastic location beautiful setting super friendly
We all had a fantastic time the children loved walking through the woods collecting wood for the campfire and seeing all the different animals sheep horses and squirrels and birds
As a family spending time together is what we all wanted but in the beautiful and very comfy setting of the bell tent we couldn't have been happier

Everything! Out yurt was very comfortable and beautifully decorated in a shabby chic style. Our beds were very comfortable and the whole place was clean and tidy. Our basic cooking equipment was plenty and just what we needed. Having so much beautiful space and plenty of animals to see with our 2 year old we didn't need to venture out. A very relaxing stay.

We stayed in the Woodland Yurt, further from the parking than the others but well worth it - and anyway David gave us all (+ luggage) a lift down in his tractor, which was a highlight of the holiday for our 5 year old! The super-friendly farm dogs also help welcome you to Silligrove.

The yurt and outhouse have everything you need - including all the kitchen utensils you wouldn't think to bring. There's a picnic table for meals but the focus quickly becomes the fire pit. Our fire-making skills were good I think but after a day's rain we needed the dry logs usefully supplied to get the fire going. These people think of everything.

If it rains, good old-fashioned board games are supplied, plus there's decent phone reception and the nearby town of Bewdley offers civilisation, culture and chips by the beautiful Severn.

After many caravan park holidays with our kids we appreciated the true solitude of this holiday, with only the occasional cries of unknown woodland creatures to break the night's silence. And that bed must have been the biggest and most comfortable I've ever slept in - no exaggeration!

This place was amazing! Me and my partner stayed in one of the yurts and the bed was so comfy ! The yurt was clean and provided everything we needed. The farm was beautiful and we loved the two dogs that came to see us. The staff were lovely and helpful and they bought us cakes on arrival which was lovely of them. Was a great couple of days and we would definitely come back!

We have just returned from a super 5 night stay at the Woodland yurt. For us this was the perfect escape from city life as we very much enjoyed the peaceful, secluded woodland setting. Jan and David were the perfect hosts and their two lovely dogs gave our three girls much entertainment. The yurt itself was comfortable and well kitted out with all that was needed. It was great also to have use of the facilities up at the farmhouse where we could re-charge our phones, use the wi-fi and have some fun in the games room.
The location is also great with many attractions nearby and even though we were there for 5 nights we still didn't manage to fit in all that we wanted to do so will be planning a return visit.

Local attractions

Right to hand are the farm wanders and nearby bridleways, the coarse fishery (and air rifle range) across the road, and more fishing pools a mile from base.

There's easy access to ancient Wyre Forest too via footpaths starting from the farm's woodland to access the forest trails by foot or bike; once you're forestwards, make for the visitor centre to learn the history of all things wood or to zip across the trees on the zipwire of Go Ape.

Golfers might like to seek out the 27-hole golf course at Cleobury and the 18-hole course in the nearby Georgian town of Bewdley, which also has the famous West Midland Safari Park and the Severn Valley Railway.

Sixteen miles away on the Welsh Marches is Ludlow, the handsome market town with a medieval castle and, these days, quite the far-ranging reputation for food.

Must see

  • Witley Court & Gardens (English Heritage) (8.1 miles)
