General

  • Luxury yurts in a spectacular setting near ancient Wyre Forest
  • On 130 acres of farmland to explore
  • Private flushing toilet, shower and kitchen facilities

There are reasons why guests have been going into rhapsodies about the attention to detail and the accommodation at Silligrove Farm Yurts between Bewdley and Cleobury Mortimer – and the reasons they are many.

Run by friendly and welcoming Jan and David, this small farm site has luxury yurts set up in a woodland location, all set far enough from each other to give all guests peace and privacy. Stabling your own horse is possible on site depending on availability.

When the owners here say the yurts are luxury, they mean it: they're equipped with everything you'd need to stay for weeks, from full kitchen kit, crockery and gas stoves, to board games, books and jigsaw puzzles – all in a space cutely kitted out with colourful furniture, rugs and candles.

A flushing toilet and shower sink are individual to each yurt, as are a barbecue and a cool box, plenty of chairs, sun loungers and a picnic table. Each also has a firepit.

All is set on 130 acres of Worcestershire farmland which yurters are welcome to tramp and explore, along with the many bridle paths in the vicinity: the fifteenth-century farmstead with tennis court on site also has a livery yard where you can stable your own horse. A coarse fishery is just across the road from the farm.

And finally, the food. If you decide you don't want a barbecue or some campfire cooking, several scrumptious places to eat are easily accessible locally, including a Chinese thoroughly recommended by David and Jan, and a pub specialising in hot and tasty pies.

Best entry level wild camping for a beginner. You actually get the feel on how its gonna be on a proper wild camp and gets provided all the essentials for a really cosy home like stay. For me personally, I feel it was the midpoint on my camping saga from Hotel to Bunk house to Farm Tent to "Silligrove Farm" to wild camp in near future. Dave was really nice and helpful. The dogs were real cute and friendly. Two of my friends actually got over their fear of Dogs here in farm. :-D
Thanks Silligrove for the amazing stay.

I would recommend correction in Facilities tab to change Tennis to Table Tennis, which was also amazing by the way. Just that I thought it was lawn tennis until I reached. :-P my bad.

We stayed in Woodland Yurt for 2 nights in August and what a fantastic experience it was. Jan and David greeted us with home made cakes and wine, which was really appreciated after a long journey. My little boy was thrilled with the jeep ride down to the yurt amongst the trees. He also fell in love with the two friendly farm dogs. The yurt itself was so comfy and tastefully decorated. It had everything we needed and the separate kitchen area was extremely well equipped too. Waking up and opening the door to fresh air and bird song was wonderful. We also loved sitting by the camp fire and then exploring as the light faded with our torches. The site is set in lovely countryside and is within easy reach of Bewdley and Witley Court, which are well worth visiting. This was our first time in a yurt and what a treat it was. Luxury but with the feeling of being out in the wild. I was only disappointed we didn't spot more wildlife. We would certainly love to return here one day.

Myself, my Partner and our 7 Year Old eally enjoyed our stay at Silligrove Farm Yurts. It was exactly what we had hoped for and more. Myself and my partner live very busy lives and just wanted to be somewhere away from people and away from noise so we could recuperate. We wanted to be able to chuck clothes in the car, turn up and have everything done for us. This is exactly what happened. Perfect! David was extremely welcoming and made sure our stay was nice. He checked up on us when was out and about to see if there was anything we needed.

Loved everything about our stay at Silligrove; the bell tent was amazing....so well equipped. All tents/ yurts are very private, the farm and surrounding land is beautiful...we enjoyed walks each evening around the forest in the grounds. The owners couldn't have been more accommodating...my boys loved riding in the trunk down to the site, as well as feeding the fish in the pond and playing with the two friendly dogs.
Would not hesitate to recommend....wonderful experience.Thank you so much.

Jan and David were fantastic hosts and made the stay so relaxing. On arrival you receive a bottle of wine and homemade cakes which was a lovely touch, followed by a fun ride in their 4 x 4 buggy drive to your yurt with all your luggage. My daughter (5yrs) absolutely loved it as you see a lot of the farm, fields and forest. My family stayed in the Woodland yurt, accommodation was very clean and well equipped with all you need for your stay, exceeded our expectations.
The woodland has a great space and in a fab location, definitely in the best spot on the farm, you feel very secluded and right amongst nature. We saw lots of squirrels, spotted dear in the evening, heard lots of foxes and saw lots of birds. The yurt was well equipped with blankets and towels and the beds very comfortable. All in all it was a great 2 night stay and we plan to stay again and make it a 3 night stay, as so much to do close by. All you need for this trip is food, drinks and clothes the rest is all ready and waiting for you. My family have thoroughly enjoyed this and we have made some special memories especially as this being our first camping trip! We will be back very soon!

I took my daughter, son in law and two grandsons to stay for 4 nights and we had a wonderful time. The accommodation is lovely and the owners are very helpful and welcoming. Jan met us on our arrival with delicious homemade cookies, which were gratefully received. The location of our tent was perfect, on the edge of the woodland and we loved the space and privacy. I cannot recommend Silligrove Farm highly enough and we will definitely return soon.

Everything! The site was clean and picturesque, the hosts were kind and thoughtful, the yurt was huge, tidy and comfortable. So peaceful, kids were in their element and even time for parents to play cards and have a glass of wine while the kids explored!

    Disliked:

If only there was mains electricity simply to charge the phones so the kids could do more "exploration" videos and so there could be a fridge to keep BBQ food fresh and drinks cold!

Local attractions

Right to hand are the farm wanders and the nearby bridle paths, the coarse fishery (and air rifle range) across the road, and more fishing pools a mile from base.

There's easy access to ancient Wyre Forest too via footpaths starting from the farm woodland to access the forest trails by foot or bike; once you're forestwards, make for the visitor centre to learn the history of all things wood or to zip across the trees on the zipwire of Go Ape.

Golfers will love the 27-hole golf course at Cleobury and the 18-hole in the nearby Georgian town of Bewdley which also has the famous West Midland Safari Park and the Severn Valley Railway.

Sixteen miles away on the Welsh Marches is Ludlow, the handsome market town with a medieval castle and, these days, quite the far-ranging reputation for food.
