General

  • Drift past weeping willows, verdant banks and genteel swans
  • Take your pick from camping snugs, hobbit huts, and static caravans
  • Over a mile and a half of free fishing on the river

Imagine drifting past weeping willows, verdant banks and genteel swans in your own private river taxi, before stepping off in the centre of beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon only a mile away.

If this sounds like the kind of thing dreams are made of, take a look at the accommodation on offer at Riverside Caravan Park, where you can take your pick from camping snugs, hobbit huts, static caravans or a three-bedroom Shakespeare lodge.

The park's new Riverside Bar and Restaurant has a clubhouse with entertainment most weekends, an elevated balcony just feet from the River Avon and Welcombe Hill for alfresco drinks or meals, and a new children's playground alongside.

There's a designated dog walking area where dogs can be let off the lead for exercise but please note that they must remain on their leads in all other areas of the park. A river taxi service runs from Riverside Park daily into Stratford upon Avon.

Keen on fishing? There is over a mile and a half of free fishing on the river.

Friendly staff. Clean hobbit hutch. Relaxing atmosphere. Value for money. And great food in the restaurant.

    Disliked:

In busy periods. The wait for the river taxi was a little bit long.
Although when we was on it , it was a beautiful trip into Stratford Upon Avon on the canal.

Excellent service and welcome at reception on arrival, providing information on days out around the West Midlands. Clean accommodation and a quiet campsite for families. Single parking for the accommodation and near to our accommodation was well thought of, alongside the pass number to access the toilet and shower block.

    Disliked:

No negative aspects about either our first experience at the campsite or surrounding area apart from having to pay fro Wifi it required.

the idea of a hobit hut was fun very clean and cosy, we stayed here last year in a caravan that was 5 star.
The ferry boat men were lovely and so helpful full praise to them

    Disliked:

described as a double put you up bed was the worst thing i have ever slept on it was so worn out that we slept on the wood panels holding it together, we did inform the lady at reception who didn't seem very interested.
the single put you up bed was not even a bed it was 3 cushions put together that were not even 6 inches thick, i have thicker cushions on my settee, and as it was directly on the wooden floor caused condensation and the bottom was wet every morning,
All three of us have gone hone with bad backs.
Please replace the beds in hut no 4.

We had 2 adults and a 14 year old stay in a hobbit hut. They look small from the outside but inside was plenty big enough and the roof is tall enough to walk around without stooping. The exclusive toliet/shower block was always clean and we never had to que to use the facilities.Mens and womens facilities are separate. Its a really peacefull friendly place to stay, our son made loads of friends and wants to stay again because he had such a good time. The river taxi is amazing to get you into Stratford and at only 2 pound for adults and 1 pound for kids its a experience not worth missing.

    Disliked:

The only thing i would say is 2 adults on the pull out sofa bed was quite cozy but after a few turns to get comfy and a few arms wacking into my face i would consider taking 1 camp bed which there is room to put down.It wouldn't put me off in the slightest and if your not a wriggler in the night your'll be fine.

    Disliked:

a few things, wi-fi i think paying over £500 for a week it should be free, the pans handles not insulated so hot to hold (oven glove supplied) bit of a mess on having to use that and lastly the pillows they have a plastic cover under the case, like lying on a packet of crisps lol, would these stop me coming again, certainly not next time i,ll bring my own pillows

As long as you're respectful they don't hassle you! They were really friendly and they made me and my 15 friends feel welcome and didn't treat us like a problem they had to deal with.

Local attractions

For a change from the river taxi, guests can stroll into Stratford-upon-Avon to take in a play from the Royal Shakespeare Company, have a flutter at the races, or visit the many Shakespeare sights dotted around the city. There’s also excellent retail therapy to be had here, as well as in the elegant surrounding towns of Cheltenham, Royal Leamington Spa and Warwick.

Sporty types will find golf courses, swimming pools and many other facilities nearby, and of course there are plenty of good walking opportunities along the river and out into the lovely Warwickshire countryside.

Further along the banks of the Avon are the stately country house of Charlecote Park, and winsome Warwick Castle, which has plenty of things to do and see for all ages. Also nearby are the majestic ruins of Kenilworth Castle, where Robert Dudley and Elizabeth I used to make out; or you could follow in the footsteps of the Gunpowder Plotters of 1605 with a visit to Coughton Court. At the Ragley Hall Estate, visitors can take a tour of the Palladian mansion, go sculpture spotting in the Capability Brown parkland, or lose themselves in the 3D maze.

The site is also a great base from which to explore the villages and landscapes of the Cotswolds.
