General

  • Working farm campsite at the foot of Wenlock Edge
  • Miles of National Trust and wildlife walks from the site entrance
  • Coarse fishing pools, free wifi and home-produced farm meats available

250 acres of Shropshire countryside, spectacular views from the Stretton Hills to the Wrekin, miles of walks straight from the site, and all a smooth 10 minutes’ drive from Ironbridge Gorge and 20 from Shrewsbury: location lovers should very much like Lower Hill Camp Site.

Family-run by Rita and her team, friendly and popular Lower Hill Camp is a working farm with a menagerie of animals to see (and a good selection of sausages and burgers to buy for the firepit or barbie) and plenty more wild animals including deer and badgers in the surrounding countryside. Miles of National Trust and wildlife walks start from the site entrance; if you’re a type who goes the distance, the Severn Way is within easy reach.

The farm has coarse fishing pools available for guests: the campsite pool by the farmhouse, and the wood pool at the lower end of the site, suitable for more earnest anglers and stocked with large carp, bream, tench, roach, gudgeon, barbel and perch.

Farm facilities include toilets, showers with hot water, free wifi and ice pack freezing.

Please note

We do not accept single-sex groups of more than four people under 25 years of age.

    Brilliant people.

I also like the way I get entered into some kind of raffle for writting a review.

    Disliked:

It was quiet when we stayed, but I could image feeling overlooked on the decking if all the yurts/huts were occupied. The safari tent seemed well out the way, and looked a treat!

I'm starting to go off this review raffle as well, I've been let down in the past. Oh Icarus.

It was a lovely clean site , we stayed in the Shepard’s hut which had heater kettle cups etc. Bed was comfy and views were amazing. The owner Rita was lovely and very helpful . We re defo going back and will stay in bell tent or safari tent.

    Disliked:

No real dislikes . Only thing we could suggest is heaters in toilet/ shower. We were fine but could imagine children/older people could get cold in colder months.

The yurt had everything that you needed, from cooking utensils to a comfy bed and a toasty potbellied stove. The fire pit was a great addition for toasting marshmallows whilst listening to the owls and foxes in the near by wood. The owners are fantastic and very friendly (they even gave me a lift into the nearest town). I've never wanted to go camping, but after my 4 day stay, I can't wait to go back!

Loved the views, the sausages and burgers, toasting marshmallows on the wood burners. It was really warm in the yurt despite 40mph winds and rain. The girls loved seeing the hens, duck, cows, sheep goat and horse. Good woodland walks straight from the campsite. Very relaxing
