General
- Peaceful Shropshire site with five coarse fishing pools
- Within an hour of outdoor activities in Snowdonia and Shropshire Hills
- Clubhouse bar and food; heated bathrooms; five minutes from Oswestry
Ooh, this place is an Eden for anglers… a peaceful, tree-lined patch of the Shropshire countryside with five pools for coarse fishing, designed and built by the proprietor who, as you might imagine, is pretty keen on the sport himself.
A five-minute drive from Oswestry, Weston Pools Village is a green and well-tended site, whose ponds for match and pleasure angling are stuffed with carp, barbel, tench and bream.
It can get chilly out there contemplating the waters, but that can soon be remedied thanks to the heated washrooms with piping hot showers. There’s also a cheery clubhouse with a bar and fresh hot food served on Friday afternoons and for Sunday lunch, and further eating and supping options a short distance away in Oswestry. Barbecues are allowed on site.
If by chance there should be a few hours when you’re not landing 20-pound monsters on the pools, there’s grand stuff to get up to in the surrounding area. Start in Oswestry with wanders round the town and Cambrian Railway museums and walks to Oswald’s Well, where legends say the limbs of the eighth-century King Oswald were dropped by a raven. 'Tis a myth, but you may have heard fisherfolk telling bigger whoppers…

What a very unfair review, the whole 10 days you were here, you never entered our clubhouse in which everyone comments all good reviews, we have the most beautiful fishery which never interested you even though we state we are a fishery, The workmen were actually fishermen on their annual holiday who do have vans on site one seasonal Caravanner has a motor bike which he carefully drives in and out not around the site as you mention. The pitches are an average size which is on this booking site. The photos on the website show exactly how it looks today, if not even more established. The drainage problem as you mention is no such thing its quite obvious that the shower head is at the wrong angle and you have to put the curtain inside to stop water going everywhere, although i have fixed this problem now, it is a shame you never came to mention any of this during your time here. Our customer service is always something we strive to keep a high standard Debbie in reception is more than accommodating and would of helped you with anything you needed, just a shame you never even went into reception. The £35 per night is mainly to cover the electric costs and after covid and everything we have been through in business please try and be a little more courteous, also we have cleaners up at the showers 3 times a day and are spotless. |

Local attractions
Heading here for hikes in the hills? It’s 50 minutes’ drive to the heath-covered slopes and waterfalls of Carding Mill Valley in the Shropshire Hills and to walk the nature-filled ridge of Wenlock Edge. Quad biking, zipwires and clay pigeon shooting are all available at the adventure centre.
To get active on the water, Lake Bala beckons an hour away with canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing, alternatively you could stay on land with a mountain bike trip through the Snowdonia hills or take things easy on a time-travelling steam train trip.
For further time travel, there’s a trio of castles nearby: 12th-century Whittington Castle is 10 minutes' drive away, while Chirk and Powys Castles can be perused within a half-hour trip. Don’t miss a flit round Hawkstone Park Follies either (45 minutes), a madcap estate of statues and grottoes amid cliffs and crags and thick forests.
Smaller companions will be smiling all day at Park Hall Farm (20 minutes), where pig racing and lamb feeding meet zipwires, adventure playgrounds and go-karts. And there’s surely no-one who can’t love a canal boat ride from Llangollen… to find out why, get out onto the water half an hour from base.

When you drive up the main driveway you can quite clearly see the main reception which is signed when out of hours we clearly state to go to the clubhouse where you will be given instructions it’s a very small site so I’m not sure how you wouldn’t see it to be honest.
You state the fishing is 5* and then give a low number for the activities on site so not sure what that is about.
We pride ourself on cleanliness of our on site facilities as most reviews state.
