  • Tiny, peaceful park with well-kept huts set around a woodland pond
  • Wildlife haven
  • Miles of walks in the surrounding area

Remember when you were teeny and used to dream of finding a snug hideaway in the woods, just for you and a few friends (if they hadn’t annoyed you too much that week)? You’d have your own camping hut among the trees and the birds, and no-one would be able to find you and you wouldn’t have to go to school for that maths test…

Now that we’re all growed up, the maths test is a quarterly appraisal and the teacher is the boss, the urge to escape with a select band of outlaws still surges up on most of us occasionally. Which is why Woodland Park Camping Huts in Shropshire is such a stonking site: tiny, peaceful and made up of snug camping huts set around a woodland pond, where you’ll be free as a bird from the niggles and stresses of everyday life.

Speaking of birds, there are loads of them – and accompanying beasts – to spot in the adjoining woodland: sit around the campfire to listen to owls hooting at night, or keep your eyes peeled for badgers, polecats, squirrels and foxes. You might also see a kestrel or buzzard or two, but do remember to look up…

The spankingly clean and well-maintained huts at Woodland Park all come with bunk beds, table, bench, electricity and lockable doors: bring your own bedding to snuggle down in.

Guests are welcome to cart along their own cooking equipment, and campfires are allowed at designated times in the Woodland firepits; barbecues are also welcome as long as they’re kept off the ground. Each hut comes with its own picnic bench overlooking the water and car parking is a short stroll away.

Amenities are kept to the highest standards so that no stress spoils your hideaway: the loo and shower block is brand-new and has lashings of hot water available, with a washing up area added too. There's a real tucked-away adventure to be had here so the track to the huts is best suited to 4x4s (other vehicles may be taken along the track at the owners' own risk).
