Fantastic Foxholes 26/09/2016

There was one large field (with 'interesting features') solely for tent pitches but tents were also allowed to pitch in the smaller (possibly flatter) fields with caravans.
Part of the Shropshire Way crosses the camp site, allowing a ten-minute walk in to Bishop's Castle.
Facilities were in good condition, very green and the showers were hot.
Owners were friendly and happy for me to walk and drive around before deciding on where to pitch.
Backpackers are welcome here, as I saw two during my stay.
Large chest freezer and two-tier fridge available to use.
Books can be borrowed and read in a room filled with leaflets on local attractions.
Road signage from Bishop's Castle is good.
Fires are allowed (as long as you purchase their logs and kit).
Superb views of the surrouding countryside - including Stiperstones and the Long Mynd.

    Disliked:

Main tent camping field is on a hill and you may end up pitching on a slope, during peak times (as is to be expected from most camp sites, though).
For washing up, you have to fill buckets of water (hot or cold) in order to fill the sink as there are no taps. It takes a bit of getting used to, more than anything else.

Location, location, location! Situated a short walk from the centre of Bishops Castle, this campsite is the best at this time of year. The path heads straight through a field of crops so it gets very muddy later in the year. (I traversed it in November and ended up caked in mud.)

The owners care for the environment with various initiatives such as solar power, recycling and areas for wildlife.

Facilities were suitable and seemed to be enough for everyone even though the site was very busy because of the ale trail. There are showers, toilets, washing up area, fridge/freezer, sofa, bookshelf etc.

Booking during peak times is essential.

    Nothing!
