Do you find it hard deciding between city and country on camping hols? Does a lack of choice of activities on a campsite really get on your wick? Settle down, variety fans, for hidden Hardwick Park in Oxfordshire will see you sorted: it’s on 180 acres of parkland and lakes with a watersports centre and fishing on site, an easy eight miles from Oxford and a 20-minute drive from Burford and the hillwalking, horse-riding and cycling of the Cotswolds.
Before guests don their walking boots for a sightseeing stroll around Oxford or a traipse on the Cotswolds Way, they can school themselves in watery sports on site including wakeboarding, kneeboarding and waterskiing, kayaking and the sublime sounding ‘Ringo Rides’ – plonking oneself in an inflatable ring while being towed by a boat (this should get an A for effort at the very least). Too high a grade of excitement for how you like to spend a holiday? Teach the kids about Oxfordshire ornithology with a gander at the Canadian geese, greylags and swans on site, or pass along the fishing rod for a cast about in the lake.
The A* Hardwick Park facilities include shower and loo blocks, licensed clubhouse dishing up meals, a well-stocked shop, a café, launderette and a kids’ play area, while the tourist information available in reception should make deciding what to do next as easy as ABC…
