General

  • Quiet secluded site close to Bicester
  • The closest site to Bicester Heritage (two miles)
  • Fishing lakes on site

What an excellent Oxfordshire site this is for anglers. And walkers. And quiet English countryside appreciators. For friendly and well-maintained Glebe Leisure Park is in a cracking countryside location on the edges of Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire as well as Oxfordshire and has two fishing lakes on site as well as lots of trails all around.

Dogs – and their owners – like this place too, as there are long walks and gravelled pathways with dog waste bins set at handy locations, and it's mighty like too that cyclists will like the gentle and short pedal along to local town Bicester...

Any amenities you might need are sorted here, such as a loo and shower block with info room about the surrounding area, a toilet and shower facilities for disabled guests, a chemical disposal point, drinking water outlets and a car park.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

What a lovely place to stay, just bought a motor home and was our first camp out in the van, not to far from us as we just wanted to get used to the van, had everything we needed, having two dogs, glebe was perfect as has lots of space for walking with dogs, nice clean showers and toilet block, pitches had hook up and water what more do need 👍🏻👍🏻

    Disliked:

None really, just a pointer, take things with you as a shop is a couple of miles away, but we like walking so not a problem 👍🏻

Quiet and remote, Roughly equidistant between Blenheim Palace and Waddesdon Manor. We had an end pitch near the access road, so good lighting around us.

    Disliked:

The dishwashing area and toilet block are very dated and there is no lighting near the washing up area. Would be 'nicer' if the washing up area and the toilet cassette emptying area were 'more' separate from one another.

We didn't book this until the last minute, 2pm on the day of our arrival.

    Disliked:

When we arrived at 6pm we had to phone for access.
The lady said the owners were away and she didn't know we were coming.

The website said there were only 3 pitches remaining but the site was deserted.
We were told to park up anywhere, which we did.

There was no access to the toilet facilities as they were all locked up and we were given no code to use.

For the price paid, this was a total rip-off and we won't be going again.

From the manager...

We are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at Glebe Leisure, however we would like to point out that the toilet facilities were all open and available; had the door handle been tried, it would have been found unlocked, and access to the heated facilities, toilets, showers and wash hand basins with ample hot water would have been easily available. The booking system only showed the 3 electric mixed pitches that you had chosen as a suitable pitch, but there were over 30 pitches and 4 EcoPods available for booking on the night in question. Although the reception was not open, there is always someone on the end of the telephone to answer any questions about the facilities had a call been made, and a phone number is clearly displayed.

Excellent dog walk, & quiet location.

    Disliked:

Shower facilities were dated. There was no where to hang your clothes and toilet bag except inside the shower itself which meant they got wet as there was not a separate shower area and drying area within the cubicle. I had to hand my clothes and toilet bag outside the cubicle. There were only two showers available in the reception area and had the camp site been full I feel that there would have been a long wait to use them. There were two other showers available near the camping pods, one was out of use and the other one, well it was disgusting. The smell was enough to put you off from entering the room. The ladies' toilets in this block had no heating in them, and the hand dryer blew cold air which wasn't pleasant on a cold frosty November day. There were no basic supplies available i.e. newspapers, milk, eggs etc, apparently "there was no call for them".

Local attractions

Plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés are in Glebe Leisure's local town of Bicester within a couple of miles, and designer clothes and accessories in the outlet shopping centre Bicester Village.

Glebe is the closest site to Bicester Heritage, the first park in the UK for the tender loving restoration care of classic and vintage cars, motorbikes and planes, all on over 345 acres of an old RAF bomber station. The centre's been described as 'a historic motoring fan's idea of heaven' so do speed along there if old engines make your motor hum.

Twelve miles from the site is simply smashing Blenheim Palace, given to the first Duke of Marlborough by Charlie 2 and handed down through the Churchill family to reach one Winston some decades back. You really should have a trip...

Also within 12 miles are another few British institutions: the dizzying array of arty treasures at the National Trust's Waddesdon Manor; Broughton Castle at Banbury, and days out spectating fast types at Silverstone Circuit.

Must see

  • Stowe Landscape Gardens (8.1 miles)
  • Silverstone Circuit (10.7 miles)
  • Waddesdon Manor (11.0 miles)

National Trust

  • Buckingham Chantry Chapel (7.7 miles)
  • Claydon (7.9 miles)
