If we were having a week in a Banbury campsite, we’d embrace our (not so) inner hippies, put rings on our fingers and bells on our toes, and make our merry way to Tooley’s Historic Boatyard by the Oxford Canal.

This is where Banbury guests can take a narrowboat trip out on the canal, on a guided 40-minute trip (recommended) or on a full day trip out by themselves (very highly recommended). Or (and) take a blacksmithing course for when they can buy their very own narrowboat. It’s best to be prepared for the lottery win.

And then we’d probably go to the pub. There are two ye olde pubs in town for thirsty sailors camping in Banbury: Whateley Hall Hotel, the former Three Tuns where Jonathan Swift once stayed; and the Reindeer, where Oliver Cromwell reportedly sketched out plans for the Battle of Edge Hill in its back room (naughty). And then we'd have Banbury cake consumption at Banbury Cross, where we’d probably indulge our (not so) inner hippies once more and have a bit of a dance, with rings on our fingers and bells on our toes.
