We’ll say ‘Oxford’ first and foremost, because any visit to Oxfordshire should include an envious wander around the hallowed halls of Oxford University and climbing the oldest building in the city, St George’s Tower (and maybe a little punt down the River Isis providing someone else does the hard work).

Then, laden down with tomes from Oxford bookshops, a punt along the Cherwell should be in order – again if someone else makes all the effort – before going to Blenheim Palace and gazing in fascination at the curly chestnut childhood locks of Winston Churchill (yes, he had hair once). This last is particularly recommended if you have young people along on your Oxfordshire trip, as is taking the family to Banbury and chanting the ‘Ride a cock-horse’ nursery rhyme at your loved ones until they weep for mercy.

Use the filters on the left to browse through our Oxfordshire campsites and holiday parks: if looking at decades-old locks of hair or resentfully punting the family down the river isn’t quite your thing, try the leisure filters for inspiration to find sites near fishing, golf, watersports and more.
