  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids

What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the National Water Sports Centre near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; a waterpark with cableway for wakeboarding; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing, turbo paddling and open-water swimming.

But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths/would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, mini golf, Segway hire, play area and mini e-combat, as well as a newly created footgolf course.

There's also an assault course, country walks and nature zones on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception).

Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragon boat racing and triathlons.

Although all this energetic excellence is only ten minutes from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the shire countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park.

The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, a 24-hour warden service, and a site shop selling groceries and camping supplies.

Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a sandpit, outdoor table tennis and netball, play areas on the site and in the main country park, and a nature trail to explore just a short stroll away.
