General

  • Small friendly farm with good local amenities
  • Five minutes from the market town of Retford
  • 20 minutes from Sherwood Forest and close to Sundown Adventureland

There's lots to like about Longholme Farm five minutes from the Nottinghamshire market town of Retford: its welcome is warm, its camping area spacious and its location smashing, 20 minutes from the Robin Hood-based shenanigans of Sherwood Forest and close to both Sundown Adventureland and the outdoor water splash area of King's Park.

Longholme is a smallholding in the Nottinghamshire countryside welcoming all types of guests as well as well-behaved pets. It's run by very friendly and helpful Gail and Steve, who are always on hand with tips and info about the local area, including eateries nearby for all tastes and budgets, the good local transport links and the many outdoor activities in the area.

Only a small number of pitches are allowed on Longholme's four-acre field, so you'll have plenty of space and can pitch wherever you like. Toilets and showers are available for guests.

Retford five minutes away has a weekly market, a Thursday and Saturday general market, a Friday antiques and collectibles market, and a farmers' market once a month. Three large supermarkets are within easy reach of the farm.

Lovely relaxed site, gorgeous area and views. Had both older and younger children and had other family in caravans on neighbouring pitches, was able to choose our location to pitch, and EHU. Play area with sunken trampolines, climbing frame and a slip n slide

    Disliked:

Unisex toilets and showers of which there were only 2 of each. Overflowing but large skip/bin. Some small messy areas of farm debris

What can I say... very friendly accomadating owners. Plenty on site for kids (both big and little) including park, trampolines, slip and slide and bikes and scooters etc all free. We enjoyed the fire pits at night when it got cooler and the entertainment in the barn Saturday was fab. We were all up dancing. Just wish we had booked longer as the weekend went so fast. We also walked 10 minutes into town where there's kings park which is a huge park with water and sand pits. Trip to the shops on the way back for the BBQ 😉 Will definitely 're book.

This was our first camping trip as a family. Had a great stay. Very easy to find and plenty of space to pitch our tent. Facilities are fine, although more toilets would be better. Host was very welcoming and on hand if we ever needed anything. The slip and slide provided lots of entertainment for my two boys (9&6). The kids enjoyed the disco on the Monday night and there was a camp fire set up on the Tuesday night (although we didn’t attend due to putting our baby to bed). Very stress free stay, would recommend to anyone looking for a short family stay.

    Disliked:

The playground needs a little TLC. Child seat/swing was broken and a few planks were loose near the slide. Also the small football goals kept falling down into the kids, maybe find a way to plug them into the ground.

This was without doubt the most relaxing break we have ... 28/11/2017

This was without doubt the most relaxing break we have ever had, the owner is a nice guy ,very friendly and helpful. Loved the simplicity of the place, you get a lot for your money £23 per night with that comes E.H.U, upto 2 cars, awning, gazebo, upto 3 dogs and upto 6 people all for the one price. None of that pay extra for this and that. Simple yet lovely place.
There is a small children's play area with swings, tunnels, climbing frames with slides and monkey bars.
Very clean and tidy toilet block which is unisex but the owner is in the process of changing that as requested by recent visitors, well what a surprise an owner that actually listens and takes onboard the constructive criticism and acts upon it.
This is a relatively new site less than 12 months open but in a lovely position with rolling open fields as far as the eye can see.

    Disliked:

As mentioned before the toilet blocks need to be split from unisex and could do with some heating in there as this is a full year site, which is in the planning stage at the moment but give the guy a break its his first year and at least he's listening to his customers. Will DEFINATELY be back to longholme farm, very soon.

Simply unbelievable. I had a truly wonderful stay & could not have been made more welcome - I felt like an old friend. The Toilets & showers were sparkling, but with loads of rustic character and even some local area pencil drawings on walls, which are fascinating. Lovely flat area, with loads of space. Washing up facilities & even though I never used any of it, I could see it was totally wired for electricity etc. Steve & Gail are a lovely couple, as are other regular folks on site, such as Amanda & Mark. I would recommend this to anyone & will
    Thank you, I'll be back.

An excellent family friendly campsite. The park, two trampolines, football pitch, hay stack & bikes certainly kept our 3 children (13, 6 & 4) happy. There was a lovely community feel on the campsite & the field felt secure so we could let our children play whilst we relaxed outside our tent, they loved the freedom (& playing out until after dark).

The toilet/shower facilities were always clean & the showers were lovely & warm.

There was karaoke in the barn on Sat night, we're not singers so we just had a drink & enjoyed the entertainment. Our 4 year old daughter loved having a dance.
