General
- Yurt glamping on a working farm two miles from Market Harborough
- Direct access to the Brampton Valley Way for walks and bike rides
- Outdoor hot tub heated by sustainable local wood supplies
Oo-ar, it’s a proper rustic retreat at Country Bumpkin Yurts, on a working farm in Great Oxendon. Roll up here to hang out with all the farmyard gang – hairy Highland cows, woolly lambs and a posse of piglets – on a fresh-air break surrounded by scenic Northamptonshire countryside.
Of course, this is a glamping site, so it’s far from being all mud and muck. The smart yurts rest on wooden platforms, so you can kick your wellies off and settle in for a cosy stay in a fully-furnished setup with comfy beds and a woodburning stove. Kitchen and bathroom facilities are housed in a set of huts a short stroll away, and you just may like to spend an evening bubbling away in the outdoor woodfired hot tub…
As tempting as it may be to wallow in those warm waters all day, it’s a fine idea to set your sights a little wider, as there’s much to explore nearby. The site’s got direct access to walks and bike rides on the Brampton Valley Way, and golf, fishing and a stately home are all within a couple of miles.
Local eats can be had at the fancy 16th-century inn a few doors down, or a range of restaurants five minutes’ drive away in Market Harborough. Or you may wish to forage for supplies in the site's own farm shop for an alfresco sausage sizzle.

Local attractions
All that gorgeous countryside tempting you out to roam? It’s easily done – nip out of the farm to be on the Brampton Valley Way, a 14-mile trail built on an old rail line. Follow it north to Market Harborough, or south to Boughton Crossing, where you can rest your weary legs by taking a ride on the old Northampton & Lamport Railway.
If you’re not up for all that rambling, take the five-minute drive to Kelmarsh Hall to wander around the 18th-century stately home and its gorgeous gardens, or trot over to the golf course and fishing lakes that are about 15 minutes away on foot.
Embrace the gentle pace of life with a trip to Foxton Locks 15 minutes’ drive away, to watch the canal boats in (slow) action. And if you fancy topping off your hot tub evening with a little G&T, you may like to swing by Warner Edwards gin distillery, 10 minutes away in Harrington, for a tour and to pick up a bottle.
