General

  • Family-run glampsite in the peaceful village of Elsham
  • A 10-minute drive from Brigg and 15 minutes from Humber Bridge
  • Fishing lakes, fishing shop, café and scenic views

Hide away in a handsome bell tent at Hunters Lodge Fishery, a spacious glampsite to the north of the Lincolnshire Wolds in the pretty village of Elsham.

Attracted here by the idea of angling? Perfecto: this place is a family-run business that has four lakes for specimen carp or coarse fishing an easy five minutes’ amble from your accommodation. You’re most welcome to book a peg on the specimen lakes to cast off from during your stay – just let the Hunters Lodge team know using the contact details in your booking confirmation email.

The site and lakes are in a peaceful setting with pretty views, 15 minutes’ drive from the nature reserves of Humber Bridge and within half an hour of the Lincolnshire coast at Cleethorpes and Grimsby. Days out in Lincoln and Hull are to be had too (within 50 minutes), as well as hikes along the famed Viking Way and shopping in the many nearby market towns.

Grab food out at one of these spots or eat on site at the café selling breakfast, snacks, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and homemade scones. The park has a fishing shop stocked with angling kit and bait as a handy extra, and for the essentials a shower and toilet are a few minutes’ walk away from the bell tent. (Please bring a torch as there’s no artificial light around the grounds at night.)

To keep the place serene, cars must be parked in the designated parking area five minutes’ walk from the accommodation. The team will lend a hand at the start and end of your stay to transfer all your kit.

Please note

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Group bookings of 3 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Single-sex bookings of 3 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

What a great find. This small site was everything we hoped for, amazing views and peaceful location away from the lakes and any buildings. Well placed at the top of the hill to maximise the views and the tents are spaced out unlike most sites. We were the only campers on our 2 night stay so our children and dog were able to get plenty of exercise without worrying about disturbing anyone. The bell tents are beautifully set up with pretty much everything you need including a large bottle of water and some tea, coffee, sugar and uht milk. We did all of our cooking on the gas stove provided although the pan provided was small so next time I would take a bigger one. The owners were very friendly and responded to emails quickly with any questions we had. Breakfast from the cafe before setting off was well worth it. I look forward to returning!

I booked a 2 night stay in the Cogsworth tent for my boyfriend's birthday - the weather was less than desirable but our stay was lovely! The hosts were lovely, really friendly and they transport your belongings to and from the tent upon arrival/departure. The tent was quite big inside, with all the utensils we needed. Luckily we had extra blankets as the temperature dropped quite low on a night. There is a steep hill to get to the tent but the view is 1000% worth it! We had access to a chemical toilet near to the tent or there is a private toilet/shower room a 5/10 min walk away which was immaculate. It's in a stunning location and very quiet which is what we wanted. There's plenty to see and do around the area as well - On our first night we ate out at a local Indian, Saturday we explored Normanby Hall Country Park & did GoApe, Sunday morning we went go karting. Unfortunately we didn't get much time to wander around or go on any walks but if we stayed longer we would've loved to do so. We would definitely recommend staying here.

    Disliked:

The only dislike was that the wood for the fire was soaking wet - we only managed to get a fire lit on Sunday morning before leaving. It would be helpful if it was kept sheltered in poor weather.

Not a dislike but the steep hill may be worth mentioning if anyone is hard of walking etc, but they take your belongings to and from the tent for you.

Fantastic touring caravan, great owners, family run site, very quiet, nice walks around the ponds and up to the Bell tents. The caravan itself is a Hobby very spacious inside with king size bed, well equipped with everything you need even a fridge freezer , we was advised not to use the shower or toilet in the caravan but almost opposite is the shower and toilet which was very clean and cleaned regularly. Would recommend for a very peaceful break.

Breathtaking vewis from the top of the hill where the tent is pitched. Watching the sun set to stargazing was fantastic. The tents were amazing and thoughtfully laid out accomodating 6 people, plus ample room still to move about. Little fairy lights and lanterns were a fab touch to at night. Everything was spotlessly clean from the tent to the showroom (which looked brand new). They had a cafe onsite but we didn't visit but heard great things about it. The lakes were lovely to walk around with kids too and feed the ducks. Our favourite part was the fact the tent was on a huge hill with your own space, a firepit, bench and a table and chairs on your own decking so eating breakfast on here looking at the view was great. The other two tents you can see but are perfectly placed so that you feel as though you are the only people there so it is absolutely peaceful. Rachel the host was a lovely lady who was really accommodating. I would definitely recommend to anyone wishing for peace and quiet in the middle of nature.

    Disliked:

The hill was abit to steep for me but the kids had no trouble with it. Your luggage though is kindly taken to and from your tent via their car so you don't have to carry it.

Great facilities especially inside the tent, amazing views, quiet and peaceful, good space away from the other yurts, lovely staff, situated in a picturesque village but close enough drive to amenities, bathroom was lovely (although a little walk away), bed was lovely and comfortable and the bedding and blankets seemed brand new, loads of utensils and kitchenware, overall a great set up and place to visit!

    Disliked:

bathroom a little walk from the yurt (but a chemical toilet was available very close so it wasn't a big issue for us)
